'Chêne' is the smallest of three pretty 19th century farm cottages set around a spacious, south-facing, courtyard garden with adjoining play barn and surrounded by beautiful Loire Valley countryside. Set down a quiet country lane, Les Limornieres is wonderfully tranquil yet only 3km, walking distance in fact, from historic Le Grand Pressigny, with its chateaux, shops, bars and restaurants.
Owners Alex and Nicole Crawford and their two young daughters, left the UK and settled here a few years ago and are clearly passionate not just about the area they've made their home, but about looking after their guests too. A generous welcome pack filled with local goodies and certainly plenty for arrival night nibbles greets guests on arrival. Mini guests tend to be most impressed by the huge array of in and outdoor toys, although the resident chickens often steal the show at feeding and egg collecting times!
A useful list of nursery equipment is provided including stairgates, which are useful since the stairs are open-tread. However, little guests tend to spend most of their time pottering about on the lawned courtyard garden in front of the cottages overseen by parents soaking up the sunshine or scenery and chatting with other guests.
'Chêne' is a 60m2 one-bedroom detached gîte with a spacious double bedroom (also has a single bed screened from the double by a corner) and a lovely a private enclosed patio with seating and BBQ. Outside its all Hansel and Gretel-style 19th century cottage with pretty shutters and creamy stone but inside its light, bright and a lovely blend of modern comfortable furnishings with original character. The pretty stone fireplace, romantic log-burner, exposed stone walls and original tiled floors are combined with contemporary leather sofas, TV (UK channels), DVD, CD player and well-equipped kitchen complete with microwave dishwasher, oven, hob and fridge. Upstairs, the spacious double bedroom is flooded with light from its south-facing patio doors leading to Juliet balcony (safely enclosed) and benefits from an additional single bed, in an alcove, screened from the double. The adjacent bathroom is newly refurbished with a reassuringly modern power shower (baby bath available). All in all it’s a wonderfully romantic retreat for a couple with a baby and/or toddler in tow.

Fantastic little cottage. Had every thing we needed for our stay. Wonderful hosts and beautiful location.Review dated 02/08/2018
The accommodation is perfectly set up for little ones with a great play area and lots of toys outside. The owners, Alex and Nicole, are also incredibly knowledgeable and helpful with many suggestions for things to do in the local area. They were also incredibly helpful when we had a minor emergency there during our stay.Review dated 24/08/2016
Fantastic cottage with lovely outside space for baby. Particularly enjoyed courtyard and little children's playground. Perfect place for every family member to enjoy the area & relax!Review dated 19/05/2014
Really child friendly, lots of stuff to keep young children occupied.Review dated 18/07/2013
The moment we arrived after a long day of driving with our 2 year old and 4 month old I breathed a sigh of relief. We stayed in Chene and it's a beautiful little fairy tale cottage fitted inside to maximise comfort and tastefully furnished with thoughtful little details throughout. There is a well equipped kitchen, a woodburner for warmth (appreciated as we stayed in an unseasonably chilly April) and age appropriate toys downstairs and in the large airy bedroom. On arrival we found a child's bed and a cot set up for us as well as a welcome snack with essential provisions. It made such a difference to our holiday to have the space and equipment to entertain our two year old and we were really able to relax here. We intend to return as this place would be amazing for a break with friends or family, there is a lovely outdoor communal eating area and three self contained cottages.Review dated 07/04/2013
This is a truly wonderful place for a holiday. The setting is idyllic and our young children (aged four, and eight months) loved the beautiful garden -especially the chickens and the trampoline. Top marks!Review dated 16/08/2012
We have just returned from a fabulous week staying in Chene Cottage at Les Limornieries. The cottage was lovely and exceeded our expectations. Fully equipped with everything a family with a 2 year old daughter could need. Alex and Nicole's local knowledge was invaluable at making our day trips so easy, they gave us plenty of tips and advise on where to go, park and do once we got there, which makes all the difference with a toddler in tow. We loved the river swiming in Lesigny and riding the complimentary bikes to to the village for an excellent cafe au lait or to the local farms to buy goats cheese and yoghurt and see the sunflower fields. However, the biggest hit with all 3 of us was the beautiful gardens. They kept our daughter amused for hours playing on the slide and trampoline, mucking about in the sand pit, making friends with the rabbit and feeding the chickens daily. We literally opened the front door and off she ran into the garden to play allowing Mummy and Daddy plenty of time to chillout & relax.Review dated 14/07/2012
We've recently returned from a very relaxing week at Les Limournieres. It's perfectly equipped for families - we stayed with our 18 month old little girl and I could have just packed some clothes for her and nothing else, such was the level of attention to detail of all the things you need to make it a home from home: story books, toys, highchair, kids plastic crockery/cutlery, bibs, Kids DVD's, a CD of nursery rhymes for the car, swings, slide, trampoline, chickens, a bunny rabbit and CBeebies! Not only were our hosts, Alex and Nicole, welcoming but they were full of advice of where to visit and provided an excellent meal on the night we arrived. The accommodation was perfectly sized, well equipped and very clean. We highly recommend this place if you're after a relaxing, family friendly stay in a beautiful part of the world.Review dated 13/10/2011
We had a really lovely break with our 3 yr old and 7mth old daughters. The cottage had everything we needed, beautiful communal garden, stunning scenery, peaceful countryside location yet close enough to explore so many pretty castles and french villages the Loire has to offer. Alex and Nicole could not have been more helpful ensuring we had everything we needed as well as offering useful suggestions where to visit. Age appropriate toys, dvds, books and disney princess playing cards were a big hit with our 3 yr old as well as the trampoline and chickens !!Review dated 28/09/2011
We spent a super relaxing week here. The Crawford family are very friendly and hospitable. They are more than willing to give suggestions and offer directions. The property is in the middle of sunflower and cornfields and is extremely peaceful. However, the other two cottages provided playmates for our three year old and there was a playbarn, outdoor play equipment and chickens to feed. Plenty to do in the local area and very child friendly. The cottage was very rustic and came equipped with a toy basket. We had all the facilities we needed and Nicole will cook for for you if requested with scrummy home cooked foodOur daughter didn't want to leave (neither did we!)Review dated 17/08/2011
We had the most wonderful week at Les Limonieres. Chene was a home from home. Our stay was perfect and we left feeling totally relaxed. Nicole and Alex are fantastic hosts and we definitely plan to return.Review dated 16/08/2011
We spend a wonderful six days in Chene Cottage, Les Limornieres. The large attic bedroom in the property was spacious and comfortable for 4 of us - 2 adults, one two year old and one baby. Nicole and Alex were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay, and we really appreciated all the thought they had put in to making it a great place to stay with small children. The food provided on our arrival was very welcome, and we also very much enjoyed a three course meal cooked by Nicole on our final evening.Review dated 11/09/2010
We have just had a long weekend at ChezANIA, Les Limornieres, and we have come back feeling refreshed and relaxed. With so many self catering holidays or breaks for mum it feels like the same old routine just somewhere different.... This is where Nicole and Alex make a difference. All the details are thought out, including a wonderful welcome of snacks, cheese and wine on your arrival (seriously who has family and friends that even do that for you?!) to toys, dvd's, games, books, bedding, cutlery, high chair etc etc for our daughter. Mums, I highly recommend you opt for the great value menu option that Nicole does - without so much as lifting a teaspoon - et viola - there was a delicious three course home made dinner complete with cheese and bottle of wine.... heaven! The gite is spotlessly clean, the environment, gardens and play areas are just right and perfectly safe. The gite itself is a cosy, large one bedroomed cottage with a lovely woodburner in the centre, it was toasty warm (on a bitterly cold winters weekend) and all the creature comforts are catered for (including Sky TV and lovely hot showers) and has ample space for two adults and a toddler and baby. On a personal note, you cannot help but be impressed with this family at their quiet determination, passion and care they have for this business. It shows, I cannot recommend it enough and we cant wait to go back!Review dated 01/02/2010
My husband and I and our 4 year old daughter have just returned from an idyllic stay in Chêne cottage, les Limornières. I cannot praise Nicole and Alex enough for the wonderful setting they have created and their warm hospitality, les Limornières is simply magical and Chêne cottage was just perfect for us. On arrival Nicole and Alex had provided us with bread and cheeses, red wine, milk, jam, eggs; they were even thoughtful enough to drop over a bottle of fizzy for my husband's birthday. There were toys, books and DVD's in abundance for our little girl within the cottage and she has come home requesting new 'heart' bed linen just like she had at the gîte. Outside, where she spent most of her time, the grounds are large and great to run around, ride a bike or space hopper between the chickens, vegetable patches, swings, slide and trampoline. There are a few farms around that you can walk to to buy fresh dairy produce; Les Limornières is situated up on a flat plain and is so rural we saw perhaps two cars or a tractor a day, because of this ideal positioning our daughter could take her scooter and scoot safely off ahead each day as my husband and I took a walk, you could easily see or hear any traffic approaching, but as said, there really wasn't any. In the evenings my husband and I could happily sit and finish our supper whilst our daughter went off to play in the play barn lit with twinkling fairy lights; we would have to literally carry her off to bed most nights. Les Limornières is within an easy 30 min -1 hour's drive of most of the major Loire chateâus, this visit we went to Château du Rivau and Villandry, both perfect for a little girl who dreams of becoming a warrior princess. We also paid a visit to the Château and museum in Le Grand Pressigny, again our daughter loved it and the views of the surrounding countryside are breathtaking. Sunday there's a good farmer's market in Descartes and Thursday a smaller market in Le Grand Pressigny. We also enjoyed a great Sunday lunch at the hotel in Le Grand Pressigny and are looking forward to trying 'Grand Ma's' next visit. More great lunches were to be had at La Giraudière in Villandry, and Les Gueules Noires in Vouvray, which was followed by some tasting and purchasing of some great Vouvray wines. If you're looking for a wonderful, relaxing family holiday where all your children's needs have been catered for then les Limornières is for you. Stay at the gîte or go site seeing, it's a winner all round!Review dated 16/04/2014
We had the most wonderful time at the Chene Cottage. Nicole and Alex are wonderful hosts, very kind and hospitable. The facilities at Les Limonieres are just perfect for a three year old and we struggled to keep our daughter off the trampoline. The Chene cottage is beautifully decorated, especially upstairs and has absolutely everything you could need. Nicole had provided brilliant toys and books for our daugher and the snow white dvd and disney princess playing cards in particular got a lot of use. There is so much to see around Les Limonieres - the swimming pools are wonderful as is a nearby river for swimming and of course lots of beautiful castles and gardens for children to explore. We'd definately recommend Les Limonieres to any families with young children and we hope to be back again. thank you Nicole and AlexReview dated 04/08/2010

A great place to stay with small children, ours loved everything from feeding the chickens and collecting the eggs, to bouncing on the trampoline, swinging on the swings, playing in the sandpit and riding on the (toy) tractor. They EVEN ate the meals that Nicole made for us - what more can you ask for?Review dated 03/11/2009
We had a fantastic time and could not find fault with either the accommodation or the property owners, Nicole and Alex. It was more like staying with friends as I had exchanged several emails with Nicole before our arrival. The Crawford's have 2 children themselves and so they are used to kids running around their property making lots of noise. There were lots on indoor and outdoor toys for our son to play with, not forgetting their two girls who are absolutely lovely, a true credit to their parents. We would certainly consider returning here for a holiday and would recommend this accomadation as somewhere you can actually relax with children!Review dated 03/11/2009
We had a lovely time at Les Limornieres...the Crawfords are lovely people. They had thoughtfully left a box of age-appropriate toys and books and Nicole changed them midway through our stay, which thrilled our daughter who also loved petting the friendly cat, watching the chickens, riding on a child-sized toy tractor, jumping on the trampoline, swinging on the swings and romping around the enclosed grassy courtyard. Les Limornieres is located in a lovely area within a gentle hour's drive of several of the most-visited Loire/Cher/Vienne/Indre chateaux. But just visiting the local markets and poking around smaller villages is also very interesting. We can't wait to go back.Review dated 03/11/2009
A fabulous place to stay. Beautiful location; tastefully decorated and well-equipped accommodation; friendly hosts; relaxing environment. Or children loved staying at Les Limornieres; enjoying the playbarn, splash pool, toys in the house and the trampoline! So much attention has been paid to detail, all added to make it everything we hoped it would be.Review dated 03/11/2009
