For a real seaside experience, head to the Gower Peninsula, and area so lovely it was the first in the U.K. to be designated an Area of Outstanding Beauty. Besides the endless sandy beaches, the family will enjoy exploring the caves in the area. Spoil mum by heading down to Mumbles for lunch. This former fishing village now offers some excellent restaurants and boutiques. Right down at the tip of the peninsula, the children will enjoy Rhossili, which offers a fascinating shipwreck along with a walk to the promontory of Worm’s Head during low tide.
Llanelli is a fun location offering the Millennium Coastal Park. The family can hire bikes and enjoy the 2-mile cycle path, visiting the Pembrey Country Park at one end and the National Wetland Centre at the other. There is also horse riding and an adventure playground on offer as well as the beautiful 8-mile Cefn Sidan beach.
