Puglia, or Apulia as it is often known in English, is a region located in southern Italy. The region borders on the east with the Adriatic Sea, the Strait of Òtranto and Gulf of Taranto in the south as well as the Ionian Sea to the southeast, offering spectacular destinations for family holidays at the beach. The most southernmost part of the region is known as the Salento peninsula, which makes up the “high heel” of the so-called “boot” of Italy. The Salento peninsula offers incredible limestone formations along the coastline, making for beautiful rocky scenery and colossal arches over the sand, while enjoying a day at the beach.
