BFB's Overview.

The Coach House is a pretty 3-bedroom (sleeps 6-8) cottage set amongst 800 acres of woodland and parkland on the beautiful Stowlangtoft Estate in Suffolk.

Although wonderfully rural, the cottage and its courtyard neighbours, are brilliantly convenient too. There's a playground onsite, wonderful walking and cycling paths nearby plus both a pizzeria (Fri-Sunday lunchtimes) and award-winning bistro at Wyken Vineyard within 1.5miles walk/drive. Not forgetting the Farmer's Market there every Saturday morning - perfect for stocking up on local goodies! Add to that a handy list of baby and toddler gear on hand, and the result is a brilliant rural retreat for any pre-school family.

Formally the Estate's stables and grooms quarters, the Coach House now has a contemporary open-plan living design. The lounge, dining area and kitchen is huge with a light bright feel thanks to its patio doors to the private terrace and double height ceilings with sky lights. The huge family bathroom, shared by the two twin bedrooms, is also very spacious and two of the three bedrooms roomy enough for a cot a piece.

The interiors are country contemporary with neutral colour schemes and comfortable modern furnishings, plus all mod cons including dishwasher, washer dryer and microwave in the kitchen, plus Smart TV in the lounge.

Outside, private patio area – perfect for dining outdoors on a warm evening (a BBQ is available from the owners) and larger communal gardens spread out to the left of the house.

Location Information

Although wonderfully rural, the cottage is brilliantly convenient too. There's a playground on site, great walking and cycling nearby, and the Michelin award-winning restaurant and cafe at Wyken Vineyards within 1.5 miles walk or drive.

Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge, and a whole host of fantastically pretty coastal towns and villages are all within a short drive too.

The Abbey Gardens is a lovely stop for the playground and duck feeding, and the leisure centre offers a pirate ship and flumes for the young ones. Family friendly Café Rouge and Pizza Express are centrally located and St John's Street has some great boutiques for kids.

The medieval wool town of Lavenham, and nearby Long Melford, are also close and ideal for antique hunting. Cambridge is 40 minutes away for a great day's shopping, punting or touring. The renowned Suffolk coast with its famously pretty towns of Aldeburgh, Dunwich and Southwold are within a short drive and well worth a visit.

Other nearby attractions include the award-winning Easton Farm Park which is perfect for toddlers and offers animal feeding, petting, egg collecting, horse and cart rides and mini train trips. Banham Zoo, with its brand new giraffe enclosure is an easy drive, and the Africa Alive safari park nr Lowestoft has a fabulous re-creation of the African Savannah.

If babysitting is an option, Bury is home to the Old Cannon Brewery and Brasserie (a lovely brew pub), and Maison Bleue, for superb fish. Further afield is the critically acclaimed The Great House at Lavenham and family friendly Thorpeness Brassiere and Regatta in Aldeburgh. Other recommendations for eating out with little ones in tow include the brilliant field kitchen at Jimmy's Farm (near Ipswich), made famous by the TV show and a great day out in itself thanks to its animals and nature trail - stock up on supplies in the shop too.

  • The Coach House was an excellent home away from home, they had catered for everything our babies and we required. We had a wonderful holiday and hope to go back again soon.

  • Very good break.  Lots to do.  Comfortable house.  Kiera loved the bath toys.

  • Beautiful cottage and surroundings.  Fabulous weather.  Cameron thinks that Ronaldo’s house isn’t as nice as The Coach House.

  • We had a lovely stay here.  It is a great cottage and we really appreciated the attention to detail for our young children’s needs

  • This property is generous in size and is a great place for a family. The facilities were plentiful and everything was such a pleasure to use. The location was very convenient for everything we wanted to do and it was so lovely to come back to the grounds at the end of the day! We took early morning walks so our 9 month old daughter could nap and the views were so beautiful.

  • A wonderful experience, very family friendly.

  • When I asked our three year old what she liked best about our holiday she said 'our holiday house'! And great if you have baby twins.

  • The property was perfect for us, two children, parents and grandparents. It was like coming to your own house. Everything was available. Toys, even costumes in the big trunk, a fireplace for bedtime reading, the playground and the forest right behind the property. We all loved it.

  • This s a really lovely property, spacious and well appointed in a beautiful country park setting.

  • A warm and cosy place with brilliant surroundings. We were 6 adults and 2 kids (less than 2 year old), and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • A fantastic spacious and beautiful cottage with great facilities, which along with the grounds kept my lively 5year old and 3year old boys well entertained. We will definitely be back!

  • Absolutely wonderful grounds and children's dress ups and toys were a total hit!

  • A spacious property with useful toys and dressing up clothes. Bath stuff and cot etc provided. Bedrooms are big. The surrounding area is peaceful, the restaurant within the grounds is lovely and friendly well within baby monitor distance! The play area is great for confident two year olds and up.

  • Beautiful location in woodlands. A nice woodland walk and outdoor play equipment was available, and property also has its own garden. The cottage is beautiful and well-maintained, with lots of kitchen equipment and toys/books for children, highchair, stairgates etc. I would happily return.

  • An absolute gem of a property perfectly set up for kids with lots of toys and books, a play area in the back. Wonderfully spacious too! Highly recommend!

  • While in a lovely setting, this rental property is clearly not a priority of the owners. There was none of the usual BFB touches that we have come to know so well, like a welcome pack with milk, bread or basics like washing powder or fly spray! No one checked in to see all was well even after our first week and when we were to transfer to another property on site for the second week. Things advertised like bike hire and an on-site restaurant do not exist and we were not made to feel to welcome walking around the grounds of the property, although there were walks signposted.
