Bedruthan

Mawgan Porth nr Newquay, Cornwall, UK

Why We Love It

Once a classic Seventies family hotel, Beduthan has had a recent overhaul with contemporary family life very much at its heart. The great bones i.e. stunning coastal setting and family-friendly accommodation options remain but in place of wall to wall activities and childcare, there's a new flexible approach with day or evening babysitting on demand but more of an empahsis on activities families can do together from drop-in craft sessions and campfire storytelling, to circus skills and surf lessons. There's still plenty of grown-up indulgence though with a Spa sensory garden, sleek bar area and a 'quiet' fine dining restaurant to be enjoyed whilst taking advantage of baby listening.

Sands Resort Hotel & Spa

Newquay, Cornwall, England

Why We Love It

Sands may not be a luxury 5-star hotel but with well-planned family room sleeping up to 5 plus cots, fantastic pools and play facilities and a superb setting overlooking a wide sandy beach, it offers incredible value for money.  Parent-friendly features come in the form of an exceptionally extensive range of nursery gear, a daily early family supper so no worries about waiting for a restaurant to open with hungry kids, and microwaves in the dining room for baby food and bottles. The free baby-listening means parents can dine in the restaurant and have drinks in the sea view bar every night, as long as the off-spring comply! And... did we mention the three spa treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor pools and play area with bar service and coastal views?

Stoke Park Club

Stoke Pogues, Berkshire, England

Why We Love It

Possibly the ultimate quick escape from London, Stoke Park Club is just a short 15-minute hop on a train from Paddington and a swift cab trip from Slough station but feels a world away from the City and a truly glamorous but uttlerly family-friendly country house hotel.

They certainly take their family rejuvenation seriously here, with over 350 acres of historic parkland to explore including boat trips on the lake, an excellent golf course, a fabulous spa, an indoor pool with family-friendly 'splash times', a crèche, outdoor playground and even a personalised bedtime cookies and milk service. There's plenty to keep young and old occupied with tennis, golf and fitness sessions for guests from 4+ years, not forgetting the activities at the kids club and creche and babysitting to allow parents to enjoy cocktails at dining at the very sophisticated Humphrey;'s restaurant.

The Rosevine

Porthcurnick, Cornwall, UK

Why We Love It

Something of a well kept secret, the Rosvine is a coastal chic country house hotel with a family-friendly heart. The classical Georgian exterior hides an interior converted into 15 luxury suites and apartments, plus a 4-bedroom self-catering cottage annexe.

Toddle down the garden path to the gorgeous sandy Porthcurnick beach and stumble upon the Hidden Hut, said to serve the best open-air Paella in England by night and delcious fresh crab wraps, seafood salads, pasties and ice creams by day.

The retreat back to your country house hotel for a dip in the pool, games on the lawns or a chilled glass of wine on the restaurant terrace whilst mini guests make friends in the playroom.
