@ASideOrderofMe Reviews BFB ‘The Granary’

Earlier this year we sent Alex from @asideorderofme and her little girl to check out The Granary at Partridge Lodge in Suffolk. Find out what Alex, Phoebe and her fabulous Nana made of their stay at this rural ‘Baby-Friendly Bolthole’ below;

‘Any parent knows that when searching for a holiday, you are mentally packing everything but the kitchen sink.

So, when I discovered Baby Boltholes, it was almost too good to be true. A company that provide accommodations that cater for families!! Say what now!

BB invited me to stay at one of their places in Suffolk in return for a review. What a wonderful opportunity.

I had never been to Suffolk so the idea of staying somewhere that was near other places to explore was a bonus.

We headed to Bredfield near Woodbridge in Suffolk. My mum, me and Phoebe. A car only half packed felt weird and exciting.

We were staying at Partridge Lodge at The Granary. A newly converted 17th Century two-bedroom barn.

It was surrounded by serene land, a lake, tennis courts, a sauna, playgrounds and three other accommodations to rent.

It was peaceful, so very peaceful.

Upon arriving the hosts Sarah and Aaran greeted us with a big bear hug and gave Phoebe so much lovely attention. They offered us wonderful recommendations and really made us feel welcome before they left us to it, offering their services should we need it.

The property was like something out of Ideal Homes. It was light and spacious offering historic beamed walls and ceilings with contemporary family-friendly furnishings.

We had a double and a twin room. The double room had a side patio with stairs leading to the garden and the twin had amazing views of the lake.

I feel the amenities for families needed to be typed in capitals as it was so good, but I will spare your eyes.

Just imagine this. The only thing I used of Phoebes were the packed clothes, her bedtime teddy and water bottle she loves.

She needed nothing. It had toys, child-friendly kitchen ware, stair gates and bathroom offerings. For those with babies it had a cupboard full of useful equipment. The decking had a sandpit. Whilst the communal gardens had a playhouse, tennis courts and chickens she could collect eggs from.

We were excited, we were relaxed, we were ready to play and explore.

We spent the rest of the day playing outside. The weather was kind to us, so Phoebe had all the space to play.

Sarah and Aaran had left a yummy welcome pack, but we also did a mini shop and ate in on the first night.

Putting Phoebe to bed in the huge comfy bed was easy and we melted onto the sofas to watch tv for the night.

We all slept very well.

In the morning Phoebe collected eggs from the chickens and I don’t think she will ever forget that moment.

On day two we wanted to explore. We drove for only twenty minutes to Aldeburgh and ate the best fish and chips ever on the pebbled beach whilst Phoebe collected 8967 rocks to take home. It had a lovely little parade of shops to mooch around.

Then on the way home we stopped off at Snape Maltings and again mooched in the shops.

That evening we had been recommended to go to the Unruly Pig pub in Woodbridge for dinner.

It was just insanely amazing food, my stomach wept with happy fullness and I have never seen Phoebe eat such a huge bowl of spaghetti bolognaise before.

We rolled home onto the sofas and again had another comfortable and peaceful night sleep.

How wonderful to feel so relaxed and refreshed. We didn’t want to leave. I was wondering if I was going to find a chicken hidden in the boot of the car.

As we left, we stopped to say goodbye to Sarah and Aaran and they told us all about how they built the place and they showed us round the other gorgeous properties.

Getting in the car to go home, we all unitedly said we’d return.

This property was truly memorable, and they made a holiday for a parent so easy.

If you ever want to explore Suffolk, I cannot recommend The Granary enough.
