Westbrook Court boasts a privileged countryside setting, just 5 minutes drive from the famous Literary Festival town of Hay on Wye, close to the stunning Golden Valley and wilder Brecon Beacons. Besides all the book shops, antique shops, galleries and boutiques, Hay has an excellent market on Thursdays and a full range of cafes, pubs and bistros for eating out.
There area has plenty of petting farms, play barns and buggy-friendly riverside walks to lovely picnic spots and the owners of Westbrook Court will be happy to put together a hamper on request. Big, Canadian-style canoes can also be hired at various locations on the River Wye, such as the beautiful Symonds Yat, with its traditional hand ferry, so families can embark on the ultimate Swallows and Amazons adventure.
To the North of Hay, against the backdrop of the Black Mountains, The Golden Valley is renowned for its stunning scenery including swathes of spring daffodils, fields of summer crops and a blaze of autumn colours which make its ancient name particularly apt. The Brecon Beacons is one of the UK's top destinations for mountain biking but families can enjoy the spectacular scenery too by taking a trip on the steam trains of the Brecon Mountain Railway.

Interior Designer Kari Morgan has completely renovated the historic farmhouse and created the new barn style guest annexe over the 10 years her family have lived at Westbrook. Now they are giving over this beautiful property in a picturesque setting with all the mod cons (including hot tub) to groups of guests wanting to get away from it all!
What we love about this place is the historic charm, and that every window has a completely different view. Although we have refurbished we've retained the beams, flagstones and Jacobean style oak flooring so the house still feels old, but with a modern twist. We love the local sense of community around Hay on Wye and Dorstone, with regular family fairs and country shows. We love our views over the Wye Valley.
What kids love about this place is that the garden is a great size for running around in, there is lots of nature to explore, bugs and snails and butterflies and bumblebees. Up in the sky we see buzzards, red kites and sometimes sparrowhawks. We graze sheep and cows on our fields, so kids love looking at the animals.
