Previously listed as number 2 in the Guardian's 'Best UK Farm Stays', North Bradbury Farm combines a fantastic 'Old MacDonald' real life farm experience for little ones with a a touch of luxury rural retreat for parents. Just two cottages enjoy the outstanding range of facilities at this special spot which is just a short drive from the M5 and the North Devon coast but seemingly in the middle of nowhere.
Here, road-weary little ones burst into life as they explore the 10-acre small-holding which, along with a host of four-legged friends, also boasts a endless opportunities for fresh air, exploration and play from the warmly heated outdoor pool (Easter-October) and imaginative play areas comprising an adventure play area, a safely enclosed farmyard ride-ons zone, straw bale barn and the ever popular 'Wilderness' area with it's outdoor firepit for camp fire marshmallows and sausages and stream for paddling and messing around with fishing nets. Not forgetting animal feeding rounds with 'farmer Chris' every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - there's is absolutely no chance of being bored here!
Even in poor weather, as longs as there's no frost on the ground, the gorgeous outdoor pool with its non-slip artificial grass surround and handy play pen, is warm and inviting, whilst the communal games and children's book library are good for keeping little ones entertained whilst snuggled up in front of the cottage log burners.
There's plenty for parents to enjoy too starting with an indulgent cream tea on arrival and continuing with pre-bookable in cottage massages and a farm shop crammed with local goodies including bread, milk, bacon and sausages, plus a freezer full of gourmet ready meals.Plus, when the sun's out, what can beat sitting on a lounger, chilled drink in hand, watching little ones enjoy the plethora of pool toys in your semi-private outdoor pool?
Owners Chris and Tracey Wilson have skilfully converted the stables and the cider barn into interconnecting 2 & 1 bedroom cottages, adding the kind of touches that make a family holiday really comfortable. The upside down design of the barns along with their airy and stylish interiors maximise the stunning views, whilst parents will also appreciate the little luxuries in the form of dishwashers, CD/DVDplayers, underfloor heating and romantic log burners. It's easy to see why the Guardian listed North Bradbury Farm as No.2 in its recent round-up of the UK's best farm stays.

Chris and Tracey both grew up in North Devon before getting married and moving away. Both passionate about North Devon they couldn't wait to return with their young family - so they too could experience the childhood they had. They have been here ever since !
They have two daughters. Hannah, who is a principle of a large comprehensive school in Oxford and Pip who is married to Jon and lives locally with her two children Flinn and Etta - who can often be found here on the farm.
Chris has had numerous jobs over the years including working in a five star hotel, various farming jobs and running his own steel fabrication and welding business - which he now no longer has time to do ! He loves his life on the farm with his guests - young and old alike and only usually leaves the farm to go to Mole Valley Farmers or have a day out hunting ! He is very passionate about animals and the countryside he lives in and is very happy to share his wealth of knowledge with the visitors and as one Dad said ` everyday is like a school day at North Bradbury '. He took that as a compliment !
Tracey, who is a qualified Nursery Nurse, has worked in various jobs with children, from nannying and working with Autistic children to opening her own 50 place Day Nursery, which she ran for 17 years before selling the business and `retiring' to North Bradbury Farm ! Tracey loves children, swimming , playing tennis, gardening and cooking, So everyday while Chris is outside doing the feed runs and looking after the farm she is baking, keeping the farm shop stocked and tending the gardens.
They both love living in North Devon and feel very privileged to live in such a beautiful part of the country and being able to share their wonderful life style with the guests, some of whom have becoming for years and have become great friends hence their motto ` arrive as guests and leave as friends ' Both being VERY sociable they always have time for their guests, whether it is to suggest an outing, give directions, offer advice on childcare. They love meeting new people , often from around the world, every week.Hopefully giving them such a great holiday, that they then become regular guests and return to see us !
The children love to holiday here because there is so much to do and of course so much freedom. With twice daily animal feeding and egg collecting, lots of opportunity to help Farmer Chris, have real ` hands on ' experience with the animals and of course get wet and muddy ! Chris is very patient and builds up the children's confidence throughout the week giving the children jobs that are age appropriate. And lets not forget the optional pony rides, the poo to swim in, animal and scavenger hunts, three play areas to play in, ten acres to explore, streams to dam and paddle in, trees to climb and that is all with out leaving the farm ! Throw in days out on great beaches, Exmoor and local family attractions - OF COURSE THEY ARE GOING TO LOVE IT HERE !

The best holiday we have had with our two year old, and that's despite a four month old baby waking frequently overnight. The cottages are fully equipped for toddlers and babies, loads of indoor and outdoor toys, even items like a Bumbo! You can buy food from the farm so you don't have to cook.Tracey and Chris are fantastic with children. My usually clingy toddler went off happily to feed the animals with them.We enjoyed it so much that we booked our return visit before leaving. My only hesitation to recommend it would be that other people may fill up the weeks and prevent my return!
We had a wonderful week at the farm and can't recommend it enough. Tracey and Chris have thought of everything to make your stay as child-friendly, fun and relaxing as possible. It was ideal for children of all ages and adults. We are already planning our next trip back and it will be even better once the outdoor swimming pool is completed - it looks stunning.
We have just come back from a fabulous week at North Bradbury Farm, the minute we arrived I relaxed because the place is so lovely and really has got everything for keeping little ones happy, safe and busy. We have a two year old and a 6 month old and I can't recommend it highly enough. We will be back!
We had a wonderful week staying at Tracey and Farmer Chris' farm. It is so perfect for young children and you really don't need to take anything with you- it's all there. It's great to just hang out on the farm as there is so much to do but also there are loads of attractions for all ages nearby. You must eat in the Farm dining room as Tracey's food is amazing. A great holiday we would really recommend.
North Bradbury Farm is the perfect farm holiday, and reminded us of farm holidays from our childhood. The barn is really well equipped for babies, including toys and DVDs. The best bit was the welcome from Tracey and Chris who are fantastic, and know everything about the area. We had some wonderful days out, thanks to their advice. The food is amazing, both that served in the farmhouse and the frozen dinners. We can't fault it, we'll be back next year!
What Chris and Tracey have achieved is second to none. The accomodation is full of rustic charm with all the mod cons you could wish for, not to mention all the baby equipment that's provided to free up valuable space in your car! Its setting is beautiful and we loved taking part in all the feeding sessions. The location is also perfect for exploring Exmoor and the beautiful north devon coast. We took advantage of Tracey's gorgeous homecooked frozen meals and the fresh eggs and even had a couple of great evenings in the Farmhouse restaurant. We can highly recommend North Bradbury Farm and will definitely be returning...
We had a wonderful week. It was all great but particular highlights were Tracey and Chris's encyclopaedic knowledge of the area which allowed us to go on many child-friendly trips out (avoiding those which wouldn't have been suitable) and the daily "farming" which turned our city-son into a real country boy. The facilities couldn't be faulted - you genuinely need to take very little to cater for your children's every whim. We intend to go back !
I can't express in words just how perfect this holiday is. The accomodation is spotless and modern throughout including all the thoughtful touches such as stairgates and baby crockery, booster seats and cots, freeview tv etc. My two year old went for a ride on Pudding the Pony (which she loved). My husband went clay pigeon shooting and I enjoyed regular long soaks in the bath. The farm is 3 quarters of an hours drive away from many beautiful beaches including ilfracome, saunton, woolacombe, westward ho etc. And lets not forget Tracey and Chris Wilson who ensured that we all had a great time. A fabulous holiday destination.
Despite a week of terrible weather, we had a brilliant time at North Bradbury. The accommodation was great and Chris & Tracey are wonderful hosts. My husband & I particularly appreciated all the lovely food we bought from the farm shop, which gave us a break from cooking, and our little boy was kept entertained by all the animals and particularly the big red tractor! I hope we can go back soon!
well well what can we say ! pure brilliant! the farm was great, the barns were comfy and well presented. The animals were great and Charlie loves Balti the goat! Chris and Tracey were excellent and we went away making new friends! highly recommended and we will be going back next year! PS great farm food check out the Lamb Curry! yummeee....
We have just returned from a short stay at North Bradbury and loved the place. The hosts are the nicest people and we are so pleased that you recommended the accommodation
The four days we spent here were fantastic! It rained almost constantly, but we all had a really good break. The cottages are excellent, toys and facilities on the farm brilliant and as for the dinner in the farmhouse dining room - best meal I've had in a long time! I'd highly recommend this to anyone, Chris and Tracey were really lovely, and I'm fairly sure we'll be going back, if not next year, then soon.
Such a lovely experience for the whole family. It really shouldn't be missed as a must for all small children. Its a holiday that ours will be talking about for a long time to come. Overall Experience: Outstanding
Farmer Chris and Tracy have thought of everything to keep the children entertained and parents happy. Feeding time was enjoyed so much (by all of us) that we even braved torrential rain to go. A week of welly heaven. Overall Rating: Outstanding!

We have just had our best ever family holiday at North Bradbury Farm. The kids (1 and 3 year olds) and adults all had a fantastic time with the highlight for the kids being animal feeding time with Chris and Tracey. The adults really enjoyed Tracey's fabulous cakes and home cooking too. We are already planning a return visit next year.
We had an excellent holiday in The Farmhouse at Clydey. The Farmhouse is great, so spacious and has everything you need. Clydey Cottages is such a great concept - relaxing for adults and so much fun for the children. We couldn't fault it and will continue to highly recommend it.
What an amazing holiday, the cottages are fantastic with everything and more that you could need for a self catering holiday, Tracey and Chris's years of experience truly shine through they really have thought of everything. Our 3 kids aged 5 yrs, 3 yrs & 5 months all had a wonderful time their highlight was definately the pony ride. Mine was probably Tracey's incredible cooking!
We had a fantastic stay with Tracey and Chris at North Bradbury. The weather happened to be great, but even if it hadn't been, we know the stay would still have been great. They really have thought of everything and are so welcoming and accommodating. It was the first time away for our one-year-old twins, and they had a great time. We appreciated how Chris adapted the animal feeding so they could participate; they even let him hold them to show them the piglets. As for the dinner ... it was absolutely exquisite: lovely dining room, really great food, and very warm hospitality. Being able to enjoy a quiet, grown-up while still being able to hear the babies as they slept was very relaxing. Highly recommended! Taylor Family
What a wonderful stay, faultless! Tracey and Chris were second to none when it came to looking after us. Something for everyone: Animal feeding, swimming pool and toys for the kids to name but a few and wonderful dinners for mum and dad. Farm shop was a God send i.e. not having to worry about cooking while on holiday. We would love to come back.
Most importantly - I think it's a truly excellent place, with incredible hosts, and I had the best family holiday I have ever had... but the one thing that would put me off booking again is the double bed mattress which is really creaky
North Bradbury Farm is the sort of place I wish I had gone on holiday as a kid. Space to run around, great play facilities and hands-on fun with farm animals. Our 3 year old became firm chums with Farmer Chris, and very much enjoyed helping out. The accommodation is very comfortable for adult and child alike - we were there when is was very cold outside, and everyone was perfectly cozy and warm. And for mum & dad, Farmer Tracey's well stocked farm 'shop' meant fantastic dinners and a welcome glass of cider was available after a full-on day. Finally, it was our first time to North Devon, and we discovered lots of beautiful places to visit during the days including some amazing beaches and very pretty towns.
What a wonderful farm to stay with the children (9y and 23 months) The animal feeding with farmer Chris is the best we ever had. Farmer Chris took all the time for the children and waited patiently for our little one to get all the food for the animals. Farmer Chris treated our children so nice and they needed to really help out with feeding not just follow the farmer and see..
We where very lucky to see 2 lambs being born and 5 more during the night. The children are still excited about holding the new born lambs.
The cottage (stables) is very nicely set up. Enough space for the children to play or read a book. Kitchen fully equipped and Tracey left enough information in the info book for you if you like to visit beaches or do some sightseeing. Also where the restaurant are etc.
The shower is very nice with enough warm water flow power.
Very convenient to have the washing machine in the shed, as our little one got carsick on our way ...
North Bradbury Farm isn't just a farm holiday, it's a farm experience that any child would enjoy. My 2 1/2 tr old Twins have had a ball and can't wait to get out of the door to help Farmer Chris every morning feed the animals, bring the ponies in, drive the tractor, play in the wilderness area, swim in the pool, the list is long. There is so much for them to experience here that there is no need to leave the farm for at least a few days and the hosts Tracey and Farmer Chris are incredible with the children and adults. With their backgrounds in education, they really know how to engage and inspire children to learn all about farm life no matter what their age! The cottages are fully equipped with everything your child will need from baby baths, bounces, potties, toys, buggies, you literally just have to pack your clothes, they even have a well stocked farm shop with all their own meat! The Popitha Twins highly recommend this Holiday!
