BFB's Overview

A heated indoor swimming pool and funky Scandinavian-style BBQ cabin are just two of the reasons families are going to love Llandeloy Cottages. They’re also in a prime location for discovering the delights of Pembrokeshire all year round and have all the essentials for stress free stays with a baby or toddler.

The history of Llandeloy Cottages goes all the way back to 16th century but the stone outbuildings that have been converted into cottages are probably only around 300 years old! When Andy and Michelle made Llandeloy Cottages their home, with their two daughters and black lab Jess, they lovingly set about transforming the coach house, dairy and old chapel into the 4-star cottages they are today but they didn’t stop there. To give families that holiday feeling, come rain or shine, they added a 30ft x 15ft x 4ft heated swimming pool, housed in an entirely glass-sided pool house, with seating at the side and loungers on an outside sun terrace. Similarly, BBQ-ing can be a year-round treat in their purpose built log cabin, with a monster piece of cooking kit in the centre and cosy furs on the seats around the sides. The cabin is big enough for up to 15 people but a booking sheet is also provided so families staying at the three cottages can plan timeslots between themselves. Children can play outside on a lawn area, with swings and a balance frame, quoits and giant Jenga, plus a garden shed isn’t a boring store for gardening gear but full of toys, games, books and DVD’s.

Andy and Michelle have designed their stone cottages in a cosy, contemporary style, with relaxing, natural colour schemes and traditional finishing touches. The lounges have comfy sofas, wood burning stoves, Freeview TV and DVD players, while the kitchens have smart tiling, essential appliances and baby-friendly accessories including hand blender and bottle warmer. The master bedrooms have romantic bedsteads, children can make a den in sturdy cabin bunks and all the bedrooms have space for a cot. Besides the shared garden all of the cottages also have their own enclosed outdoor area.

Accommodation Overview
Llandeloy Cottages comprises 2-bedroom Cottage One (W) and Cottage Two (H) and the 1-bedroom Cottage Three (OC). All of the bedrooms have space for a cot and two travel cots are available. Up to 2 dogs are also welcome per cottage. The fully glazed pool house is next to the cottages and all guests have use of the BBQ cabin and a lawn garden with a play area and toy shed.

Cottage Two (4 + babies) is a traditional stone cottage, with a private courtyard garden and patio table for eating outdoors. The kitchen and living area is open plan with a beamed ceiling and polished wood floors. The cosy lounge area features a comfy corner sofa, a log burner, Freeview TV and a DVD player, plus a dining table that seats 4. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with essential utensils, crockery and appliances, including a fridge freezer, oven and ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher and a washer/dryer. A hand blender, bottle warmer, high chairs and Bumbo seat are among the helpful accessories provided for babies and toddlers. On the first floor, the master bedroom has a romantic wrought iron double bed and the second bedroom has a sturdy, timber cabin bunk, with two full sized single beds. The gleaming panelled bathroom has a bath with a shower, a washbasin and WC. Free WiFi is available throughout the cottage.

Location Information

All the beauty and famous beaches of Pembrokeshire are on the doorstep at Llandejoy Cottages, located on the St David’s Peninsula, just 3 miles from the picture perfect harbour village of Solva. The cottages have a very peaceful setting and are surrounded by fields that are buzzing with wildlife.

The owner, Andy, fell in love with Pembrokeshire when he spent many summers here, walking the famously breathtaking coast path. Even without being too ambitious, families can take on small sections and make the most of the coastal Puffin Bus to get tired little legs back home. There is a fabulous view of the Pembrokeshire Coast from ‘The Gribbin’ headland in Solva and this pretty little village by the sea has become an arty little spot, with galleries, shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants around the harbour and on the high street. When the tide is out an inlet makes a shallow bay where children can paddle.

Newgale beach (5 minutes’ drive) is almost 2 miles of sandy shore, backed by a huge pebbly bank and with numerous sheltered bays to set up camp for a day. At the southern end children will have fun exploring a walk-through cave and at the northern end there’s a cafe and a pub. Whitesands Bay is also just a few minutes’ drive and true to its name, is a huge expanse of fine white sand and sheltered bays, plus a cafe and toilets. To make sure there’s plenty of beach to play on, always check the tide times.

Tiny St Davids (6 miles) has the quirky claim to fame as the smallest city in Britain thanks to its impressive pink and grey stone cathedral, named after the patron saint of Wales who lived here way way back in the 4th century! The town has an interesting choice of shops, pubs and places to eat clustered around the old cross as well as a fish and chip shop and Gianni’s ice creams. Whale and dolphin spotting boat trips are also a great way to see the coast.

Besides the stunning scenery and ancient heritage of Pembrokeshire, a host of fun things to do are less than an hour’s drive from the cottages. Families can hire a boat on the reservoir of Llys Y Fran Country Park or hire bikes to follow the 7-miles cycle track around its shores, with a cafe and play areas along the way. The Victorian Scolton Manor Estate also has play areas and pretty grounds for a picnic as well as period exhibitions and a cafe with great cakes. Folly Farm near Narbeth is far from any ordinary farm, with lions, giraffes and penguins among the 200 species in its zoo, as well as an indoor vintage fun fair and indoor and outdoor adventure play areas. Oakwood is Pembrokeshire’s fun-packed theme park, with over 30 rides and attractions, including KidzWorld for little ones. For a really splashing time, The Blue Lagoon is an indoor waterpark complex, with swirling slides, spurting spouts, a lazy river and shallow shore for paddling, as well as patios with loungers and cafe bars.
