For toddlers and older siblings this collection of chil-friendly gites, has a magical quality, like an enchanted forest. The five acres of beautiful grounds hide a new adventure around every corner from a huge wooden replica pirate ship and fort, to trains, go-karts and tractors. For parents this means entertaining the brood is a breeze and as a result, relaxation comes easily. When not sneaking off to play pirates, most sit on their private terraces or lounge by the pool happily watching their offspring make new friends. Those with babies tend to gravitate to the specially created shaded play area and kiddie pool. In fact, the huge range of toys and equipment provided (see 'Fast Facts' on the right for more details) is so comprehensive it would be a challenge to find anything missing.
Accommodation is set in beautiful stone buildings-The Grange, which has been converted into four self-contained gites, each with three bedrooms. Beside The Grange made of old Quercy stone house is the Winegrowers House and is the largest of the 3 bed gites with 170 sq m. Below is Wisteria a special 2 bed hideaway on the ground floor of The Winegrowers House. Each of the 3-bedroom gites has a private terrace with rural views (spectacular sunsets from some) and all properties have interiors which blend comfort and practicality with rustic beauty thanks to their mix of original features and pretty wooden furnishings.
Goldilock's Cabin (sleeps 5+infant) Goldilocks Sleeps 5+infants in 2 bedrooms 1 double & 1 triple)
Goldilock's Cabin (sleeps 5+infant) is set slightly apart from the other gites onsite, semi-hidden amongst beautiful trees but with the benefit of a spacious deck overlooking the pool area. Its log cabin design may boast a lovely open-plan living area with well equipped kitchen, dining area and a lounge, but guests will almost certainly spend much of their time out on the deck which runs almost the entire width of the property. The deck has patio doors from the living area and is furnished with both a dining set and comfortable cushioned benches but its greatest assest is the glorious views is affords through the trees across to the pool and play areas to the rural scenery beyond. It is a perfect spot for morning coffee or long lazy evenings. There are two bedrooms, a double with kingsize divan bed, and a kids rooms with bunks, a single and a cot, plus a lovely selection of toys and books. There are of course quite a number of bears amongst the toys provided but those likely to be most popular with junior guests are the beautiful hand carved, life-sized, bears positioned just outside the cabin, which, along with the carved 'Mummy', 'Daddy' and 'Baby' chairs inside, make this very special escape a fairytale come true for little ones!
Most families find it hard to leave the grounds, with so much available onsite. But for those who manage it, there’s a host of attractions within an hours drive including the lovely open-air museum at Quercy and the African Safari Park near Toulouse. The Medieval city of Cahors with its famously beautiful bridge and great gourmet shopping in its warren of cobbled streets. Recommended regional specialities include truffles, confit de canard, goat’s cheese and the dark local wine.
Getting There: Approx. 90mins from Bergerac or Toulouse Airports and 2hrs from Rodez and Bordeaux. ALSO, 15mins from New Brive airport openining Summer 2010 with flights from London City. Approx 25mins from TGV train station at Cahors (5hrs from Paris). Or 9 hrs drive from Calais.

Mark and Lara Bishop had a dream in 2002 to create a special place for families to holiday at where everything you would need practically was there ,taking away all the stress of travelling with everything you would normally have at home ..." a home from home"
Having two children themselves at the time Benjamin aged 6 and Charlie aged 2.5 they had a good idea as to what toys and play equipment was loved by children. There was a dream to create a special place for imaginative play and running free, and so Pagel was born.
Lara had a background in sales and marketing and Mark was an account manager but with a skill set in building and DIY hence the perfect partnership was formed .
Their dream became a reality when after six months of searching they found Pagel nestled on a hillside in the Lot South West France.
Although no longer living onsite, Pagel is still managed by the Bishops from the UK and with Fiona, Carole, Sarah and Steve our fabulous English speaking team living locally to Pagel the family friendly experience and magic of Pagel lives on.
Safe play, running free, imaginative play areas, pirate ship, dressing up clothes and arts and crafts, a heated pool and toddler pool and saltwater to protect little ones, like minded families on site for evening glasses of wine and a chef for the night service for that special night in, weekly family bbq, children's tea service and fresh frozen food on site allows you all the freedom of self catering with options for treating yourselves on holiday by having food provided when you would like it . Fantastic views, peace and quiet, time together, time to play, time to relax, memories to make ...........holiday memories of time together as a family in a very special place never forgotten.
Wow the pirate ship with dad at the helm, the indian village with the real totem pole and wooden Indian chief, dressing up as someone different every day and running free in the meadow with wild flowers and butterflies. The heated pool and toddler pool for hours of fun, pool toys and play equipment everywhere, climbing and swinging, sliding and bouncing on the trampoline, my own toy box in my gite and my special Pagel present when I arrive, the play barn with soft play and arts and crafts and riding all day on little tractors and trikes. The lizards and birds and deer in the lower field and playing with my holiday friends every day, so much to do and so many places to go to near to Pagel like the Monkey Park, Water Park and castles.

We returned on Saturday from an absolutely amazing holiday at Pagel, France. Our two little boys (3 years & 6 months) had such a wonderful time & so did we parents :-) It truly is a magical setting & Lara & Mark Bishop couldn't have been more helpful. They were so wonderful. I would highly recommend Pagel to anyone with a young family. Review dated 26/09/2012
We were fortunate enough to get a late booking through this website, and it was a wonderful break. The hosts couldn't have been friendlier, and every last detail had been thought of. The new chlorine free pool was blissful, and our accommodation was clean, well furnished and very comfortable. Excellent selection of ride-on toys, slides, playhouses etc meant our toddler couldn't believe her luck, and we couldn't either. Beautiful location in stunning landscape, wonderful markets and restaurants nearby for child-friendly leisurely lunches - hard to imagine in the UK. We will definitely return.Review dated 03/11/2009
We were lucky enough to enquire about a holiday at Pagel just as a two week long cancellation had come up, in fact lucky doesn't go far enough to describe it, as this place is so great it gets booked up well in advance. Having been there I can now understand why. Mark and Lara have really built a paradise for both kids and adults, suitable for all ages. Sometimes it's tough to persuade the kids that we really should leave and explore the surrounding Lot and Dordogne valleys. There are enough play barns, slides, swings, trampolines and of course the pool, pirate ship and electric jeeps that the kids can go off, make friends and really benefit from a feeling of independence in the fully secluded, safe and fenced grounds of Pagel, and this gives the adults time to do a little "relationship building" (in either red, white or rose flavours) of their own. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and am not at all surprised at their level o ...Review dated 03/11/2009

This is a great holiday, especially as the children are so well provided for with plenty of toys, games etc. Tanya and Gerry are kind and welcoming hosts and the setting is idyllic. The gites are lovely but not luxury. We look forward to coming back next year.Review dated 03/11/2009
