Nestled in woodland just a few miles inland from the wonderfully rugged and sandy coast of the Pembrokeshire National Park, this pretty cluster of whitewashed stone and Welsh slate cottages are a haven of family-friendly tranquillity. The handy list of nursery kit, play area and clutch of friendly farm animals makes them especially well suited to families with little ones, whilst theres a warm welcome for the family pet too.
The 32-acre estate is home to just five cottages so, even when fully booked, often the only time you'll catch sight of other guests is during one of the regular animal feeding and egg collecting sessions. These have toddlers squealing with delight as they experience real life 'Old MacDonald's farm' and are invited to collect eggs or hand feed the friendly brood of chickens, pigs, donkeys, rabbits and guinea pigs. Apart from that, Fron Fawr is best described as a fabulously tranquil slice of rural life, only a short drive from the coast, and the perfect place to let little ones roam free. Plus, for those parents who still hanker after a bit of romance, there's little to beat cosying up in the hot tub under the blanket of stars the almost zero light pollution allows for... keeping one ear out for the baby monitor of course
Accommodation overview
Glydwr (sleeps 8): is perfect for multi family groups with spacious living areas and 4 well sized bedrooms. Guests enter in a hallway which leads to a handy cloakroom, perfect for kicking off muddy wellies and a downstairs bathroom with WC. Off the hall also lies the large dining/breakfast kitchen which is well equipped for families with a range cooker with 7 ring gas hob and electric ovens along with a full size fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The wood beamed sitting room is accessed from the kitchen up six small wooden steps. The room is perfect for relaxing and winding down after a busy day of exploring with a cosy log burner, flat screen Freeview TV and DVD player. Patio door lead out onto a pretty pergola covered terrace with hot tub and private, enclosed garden safe for little ones to roam free.
Upstairs there is a master bedroom with superking, canopied bed, wash-hand basin and LCD TV to watch DVDs in bed (no external aerial for TV channels); another double bedroom with wash/hand basin; a twin bedroom and a bunkbed room with 2ft 6 wide beds loved by children but sturdy enough for the 'young at heart', even if a little cosy. There is also a family shower room with WC.
The cottages are nestled in 32-acres of shared grounds around 5 miles from the Pembrokeshire coast and Cardigan Bay, which is regarded in the area as prime dolphin spotting territory!
The Nag's Head in Abercych (2.5miles away) has a great reputation for good food and ale, as well as having a lovely outdoor play area for kids. Newcastle Emlyn which has a good selection of shops, banks, bistros, cafes, delis and a beauty salon offering a range of treatments is around five miles from the cottages,
Some of the region's best restaurants are also fairly close to the cottages including The Harbourmaster at Aberaeron, Llys Meddyg in nearby Newport, and the Penrhiwllan gastro-pub. All are all well worth arranging babysitting for.
A little further afield at around 45mins drive, Folly Farm is a brilliant wet weather day out thanks to its petting farm, tractor tours, indoor Victorian fun fair, soft play and huge adventure play zone, most of which are under cover.
For boutique shopping, art galleries and ceramic painting cafe, visit the pretty town of Narbeth... try to resist the chocolate factory tours nearby!

The cottage had everything we needed. Seating was a little low.Review dated 12/08/2017
We cannot recommend fron fawr highly enough!!! The cottage was extremely cosy and luxurious ....very well equipped for our 3 under two year olds!!!! with stair gates, high chairs, toys, bed guards, cots etc etc. The site had everything we needed and freedom for our 8 year old to let off steam and the treat of a hot tub on the door step which we used rain and shine, day and night! We frequented The sister site Clydey cottages for the fabulous soft play area, games room and pool (complete with pool toys, playpen, cradle and changing tables?) we have never been anywhere so child centred! The icing on the cake was the farm where the children were able feed the animals each day. Outstanding !Review dated 21/08/2016
