Rain or shine, the idyllic 45-acre Flear Estate has both grown-up and mini guests grinning from ear to ear day after day. Whether starting the day with fresh eggs from the honesty shop, a swimming lesson in the pool, or a fun-filled afternoon in the huge play barn, playing pitch and putt on the green or coming 'home' from sightseeing to grab an ice cream and enjoy it whilst wildlife spotting in the stream, lazing by the hot tub or before indulging with a relaxing massage in the treatment room, there's always something fabulous to do!
If you can tear yourselves away, there's an acclaimed, and child-friendly, gastro-pub a pleasant mile or so's walk away, not to mention some of Devon's finest beaches, crabbing spots and wildlife parks. Flear really does do family rejuvenation to a tee. It even makes self catering easy with a freezer full of delicious chef-made meals in the honesty shop and convenient organic local grocery deliveries from Riverford, for those who fancy cooking up a storm inthe well equipped cotatge kitchens or scenically set barbecue deck.
Owners Barney and Camilla are a young couple who have injected fresh energy and investment into Flear and, thanks to first-hand experiences with their own boys ‘Roo and Percy, they have real insight into what it takes to make a successful break with tots in tow, plus handy tips and advice on exploring the area with little ones.
Accommodation Overview:
Linhay at Flear is a charming and spacious lodge, which sleeps 4 + infants in 1 king and 1 twin bedroom. Set in acres of beautiful country side it benefits from stunning country views along with an endless list of child friendly facilities, including an indoor play area, swimming pool and playground on its surrounding grounds. The lodge's high beamed ceilings and under floor heated stoned floors offer a sense of luxury and space. The lounge is made cosy with its warming log burner and comfy soft furnishings whilst it adjoining kitchen is contemporary finished with granite worktops and a large American style fridge/freezer. At the opposite end of the lounge is a doorway to the master suitewith king sized bed and a family bathroom complete with luxurious double ended bath- the perfect place for frazzled parents to relax!. From the gallery that runs the full length of the cottage is the twin bedroom with its own en-suite showerroom. Outside there is a lovely private garden and terrace which with its pretty views over the meadows beyond is a great spot for alfresco dining during the summer months.
Other Options HereAlthough there's little but tranquil rolling countryside and a family-friendly good food pub within walking distance, Flear is actually pretty well connected, as the pretty market town of Kingsbridge is within 10 minutes drive and has a great range of pubs, shops and bistros.

Flear Farm is family-owned and run by us, Camilla and Barney Fawcett, and assisted by our little boy, Reuben and baby Percy. We have always loved the country and after several years chasing our tails in London, we decided that we wanted us and our children to have greater exposure to nature and a more traditional pace of life.
Keeping the cottages and the estate looking beautiful has been challenging but very rewarding, and we get a lot of our satisfaction from giving our families a super holiday and seeing them come back again the next year!
From the moment kids arrive they are enchanted by Flear Farm, most are splashing about in the indoor pool within minutes of arriving!! There is a large indoor play barn equipped with large trampoline, wooden swing set, soft play area and toys galore - perfect for a rainy day! There are acres of outdoor space for children to enjoy together with a Davis cup tennis court, picnic area and pitch and putt and a great BBQUE area which is perfect for balmy summer evening sausage sizzles following a day of building sandcastles on one of the local blue flag beaches! The resident Flear Dartmoor ponies - Yara and Abbie are always more than happy to be fed a tasty tit-bit, and our duck's love attention (and bread) down at the Duck Pond. Swimming lessons can be arranged in advance with the Flear office. A selection of childrens DVD's are also available to borrow when little legs just need some time to relax!

Brilliant for families quiet and relaxing and cosy. Great facilities a little worn in places but new owners full of plans. Nothing that would spoil a break and we would come again
Really enjoyable holiday destination, keeping our toddler out of the play barn was a real problem though.....be warned the children will not want to come home!!
