Larger groups may be interested in also renting the owner's other house, a few doors down, too. See here for details.
Along with its lake-side setting, one of this house's greatest assets is that there is so much to see nearby and all of it on pushchair-friendly flat paths/roads. Nearest to the house, within a minutes stroll, is the Lake Brasserie with Ski Lodge, which boasts a friendly bar, restaurant with wide menu choices including kiddies favourites, a lake-side terrace and upstairs gym. The ski element is waterskiing, wake boarding or ringos, all of which will no doubt prove irressitible to most families, not least since, thanks to a special skimmer board, ski lessons are available to little ones as young as 3-years old. There's also a small shingle 'beach' area a few steps away, sectioned off from the watersports for safe swimming and popular with little ones for paddling.
A little further on (3-4mins walk) there's a brilliant wakeboard/water ski school offering a ski cable and a buzzing cafe bar. The ski cable is slowed on weekends during special training sessions for kids of 8+ years.
A very short drive away, is the spa, golf course, restaurant and 'Old Boathouse' pub at the Four Pillars Hotel has something for everyone, particularly mini guests who love the beer garden play area at the latter. Further on, around 40-minutes walk/15mins by bike, is the Cotswolds Water Park with its purpose built toddler paddling and play area, alongside the UK's largest inland beach. Pedaloes, row boats and even 'Zorbs' are available for hire.
For those who don't mind jumping in the car once in a while during their break, the Cotswolds Farm Park is well worth a visit and around 40-minutes drive, whilst shopaholics will be pleased to learn that the Swindon adesigner discount village is only around an hour's drive away. Cirencester (30mins cycle/10mins drive) is also surprisingly good for shopping with some great independent shops filled with indulgent treats such as the brilliant 'Oeno' wine merchants, Cirencester Cupcakes and Jesse Smiths traditional butchers and cheese shop. Bibury is also worth a visit, just 20 minutes by car, with a trout farm with ponds where little ones can feed the ducks, swans, geese, trout and play in the playground, there is also a family friendly pub with a good selection of food.
Dining out choices are abundant in the area and the food at the bistro a few steps from the house is pretty good, but for a special meal, the Wild Duck in Ewan (60mins walk/15mins cycle/6mins car) is highly recommended and has a kids menu, whilst the Wheatsheaf in Oaksey (13mins car/30min cycle) offers even more sophisticated pub food, plus an award winning gourmet burger menu, along with kids options. The brilliant 2-acre garden with village-run vegetable patches at The Potting Shed in Crudwell (15mins drive/45mins cycle) means kids can be let off the reigns there and parents can saviour long lazy lunches or suppers from the excellent menu which focusses on locally grown/reared produce and comes in smaller portions for mini guests. For urban dining, 'Made By Bob' in Cirencester has earned much praise from some of the UK's most influential food critics who've been extremely impressed with the creations of its chef, Bob Parkinson who was formerly based at London's Bibendum.
Nearest A&E: The Great Western Hospital, Marlborough Rd, Swindon, Wiltshire is less than 20 minutes drive away.

Fantastic views from the deck.Review dated 11/06/2018
Beautiful property right on the lake. High spec and fully equipped so a complete home from home. It rained the whole time we were here which means we will definitely have to come back again as the area has a lot of outdoor activities which we didn't fancy doing in the rain! Kevin is lovely and on call if you ever need anything!Review dated 23/07/2017
Amazing! Kevin couldn't have been more helpful and saved us having to transport our essentials. We will be back!!!Review dated 11/08/2016
Amazing 10 night break at the lake house with our 6 year old, 3 year old and 10 month old. House is fabulous, very modern and luxurious, has everything you need for little ones. Stunning views, great brasserie and playground next door to house, little beach so you can paddle in Lake next to house a big hit, as was watching our 3 and 6 year old waterskiing from our deck. So much to do in the local area too. Kevin was a great host, so friendly and helpful, amazing holiday for all the family.Review dated 13/08/2015
A wonderful location with so much in the area to do. Greatest hits for the kids (2 boys) Magicland in Cirencester, Birdland and Bowood House. The lake house itself was very peaceful with a play area just to the rear which made managing the kids a dream - we actually had a holiday!Review dated 28/07/2015
Stayed here with my 4 years old.. Lovely setting. Relaxing and tranquil.. My daughter loved feeding the ducks and swans every day..
Good location, plenty to do. Property is nice but could do with a makeover. Overall had a lovely break.Review dated 16/08/2014
Excellent location close to local amenities. Property was comfortable. Owner was friendly and helpful. Good baby/toddler facilities and provisions.Review dated 21/07/2014
Just returned from an amazing long weekend at the lake house, batteries completely recharged! The house is in an excellent location just a few minutes walk from the lakeside brasserie where we ate 3 times because the food was so good. Two of our lunches we had out on the brasserie terrace in gorgeous sunshine watching all the water sports on the lake. There is a very small little shingle beach just next to the house, & my 2 year old loved paddling there. Nice to be able to pop back to the house & bring out a cup of tea! Kevin the owner is really lovely & keen to recommend local places of interest & places to eat, hospitality was 100% with all the essentials like bread, butter, milk etc already there (& a lovely bottle of wine!). I would have no hesitation recommending this property.Review dated 05/05/2014

There was all the equipment we required for 2 young girls . The property was clean and tidy with lovely view of the lake.Review dated 17/09/2013
We had a superb stay in the Lake House. It's in a great location, near to lots of child friendly places to visit and eat at. The house, itself, is spacious, clean and well equipped and Kevin, the owner, was very welcoming. Our daughter loved feeding the swans outside, and we enjoyed having the patio doors wide open, watching the view of the lake....highly recommended!Review dated 25/08/2013
We had an absolutely fantastic week in the Cotswolds. This property was just perfect for our needs and our 2 year old just loved feeding the ducks & swans every morning and watching the water skiers going past. There is so much to do in the area that a week just isn't long enough. Also Kevin was the most helpful host who does everything he can to make you feel welcome and give lots of suggestions for things to do and good pubs to go to. We will be returning.Review dated 06/07/2013
Beautiful location and a very relaxing break. Children loved feeding the ducks and swans everyday. Kevin is a great host and goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. Overall a lovely house in a great location, what more could you ask for.Review dated 25/04/2013
We had a great relaxing short break at the lake house with our 8mth old. The house has a fantastic view of the lake from the open plan living area and huge floor to ceiling windows in the master bedroom. Lots of helpful baby equipment on hand, and the owner is really friendly and helpful and full of great recommendations of things to do and places to eat. Would definitely like to return, perhaps when our little one is old enough to feed the ducks!Review dated 16/03/2013
We enjoyed a long weekend at the Lakehouse with a 2 month old and 3 other children up to the age of 5.
Lots of equipment was available for us to use from a baby gym and stair gate to a full size cot and travel cot. This made fitting us all in much easier. Kevin was a very helpful and friendly host and made us feel that nothing was too much trouble. Lovely views and a very cosy atmosphere.Review dated 15/02/2013
We cant fault this property. My wife, me and our 10-month old daughter stayed and had a very chilled time.
Kevin (the owner) is extremely welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. We made a specific request & he sorted it straight away. He also made great Pub / Restaurant recommendations.
The Lake House is a lovely place to stay. A great base to explore the Cotswolds.
The house is well appointed (everything you need for baby as well as adults), the master bedroom bed was super comfortable, as was the large L-shaped sofa and chais.Review dated 15/01/2013
Lovely owner, great location, smart accommodation.Review dated 13/01/2013
We had a fantastic few days at the Lake House. It is such a serene location and as it was off season it was exceptionally quiet. There are enough local attractions to please everyone. Kevin was very helpful and great to have him on hand to help with last minute questions. The play mat, bath toys and night lights were a nice touch and it was great to be able to get away for a few days without having to pack so much "child junk".Review dated 03/12/2012
We had such a relaxing stay at the Lake House. It was a great property in a beautiful setting - you can't beat waking up by the water every morning. There were plenty of things to do with our toddler locally too, ranging from cycling and walking to visiting Farm Parks and Wildlife Parks. Perfect! Thank you Kevin!Review dated 17/10/2012
The cottage was really lovely and it was so helpful to have all the baby equipment available. It was also a really nice touch to have the essentials in the fridge (including wine!) when we arrived. The lakes are peaceful and there are lots of buggy friendly walks straight from the cottage. We would definitely recommend.Review dated 08/10/2012
We had a beautiful weekend away at spring lake house. The property is great, the owner was very welcoming and definitely will try to be back soon.Review dated 09/09/2012
Great location, close to all the local attractions. The house is right on the lake but the boundaries are safe enough to allow our adventurous 2yr old to roam free. The owner of the property went out of his way to be helpful and ensure we had everything we needed. Would definitely stay there again.Review dated 04/09/2012
A stunning lake-side house with lovely open-plan living area and safe balcony from which to feed the ducks. Perfect both for our little girl and her parents. We even got to go water skiing and visit the gym as well as having plenty of time on the swings and saying Hello to the animals at the nearby farm.Review dated 23/08/2012
