'Boutique Hotel Spanish Family Robinson-Style’ is perhaps the best description of the experience at the beautiful Caserío del Mirador. The elegant pool and stylish Moroccan influenced interiors give it all the hallmarks of an exclusive retreat, but the warm hospitality of owners, Sarah and Johnny Robinson, and the presence of their three gorgeous children, create a laid back atmosphere that easily has parents relaxing – no need for toddler-induced tenterhooks here!
Nestled in a fragrant valley and in sight of the sea, its breathtaking views might be its greatest asset but the fact that guests at Caserío del Mirador can be as sociable or self-contained as they wish, comes a close second. The two-bedroom apartments and large one bedroom suites have basic kitchenettes enabling guests to self-cater or sample Sarah’s delicious rustic Spanish cuisine. Lunches and evening meals are on offer at least five days a week and can be delivered to terraces or enjoyed as sociable communal suppers, overlooking the beautifully lit pool and valley below. The daily kids supper times are a big draw for both mini and grown-up guests since Sarah produces popular meals for little ones and cracks open a few bottles for the grown-ups who generally bond over tips and advice on where to go and what to do with tots in tow.
Days are blissful with plenty of beaches and scenic towns to visit within 30-60mins drive and plenty to keep little ones occupied on site of opting for a chilled day by the pool. There are animal friends to visit including pigs, goats, ponies, chickens, rabbits and cats, a toy-filled terrace and numerous play areas - including possibly the World's best located sandpit! All-that combined with daily breakfast pastry deliveries, twice weekly visits from a massage and beauty therapist and Sarah's amazing suppers and it is easy to see why a stay at Caserio del Mirador is so often considered to be hefty dose of family rejuvenation. In fact, a number of parents have even credit it with 'saving their marriage' although we do think that might have been meant slightly tongue in cheek!
Accommodation Overview
Apartment Nina is probably best suited to a couple with a baby in the pre-walking stages. It has a comfortable double bedroom with space for a cot. The spacious living area opens out onto the pool terrace (something parents of toddlers would need to guard). Like all the apartments, it has a kitchenette and sitting area with basic satellite TV and free broadband. All bedrooms at Caserio del Mirador now have air conditioning.
Caserío del Mirador enjoys a peaceful setting amongst almond trees and olive groves with a stunning, far reaching view down the valley to the Mediterranean coast that makes a fantastic first impression. The terraces, gardens and grounds offer a wonderful sense of space and tranquility that has guests slipping into relaxed holiday mode from the moment they arrive.
Although scenically set amongst rural splendour, it’s only a short walk to the nearest restaurant and 10 minutes drive to the closest town.
Jalon, with its blue glazed terracotta dome above the main square visible for miles around, comes alive on market days and is famous for its bodegas, or wine cellars. It also boasts a small assortment of restaurants, cafes and specialist shops selling everything from cured meats to Moroccan curiosities, and even wine made from vines next to the Caserío. There are also two kids play areas in the town with climbing frames and swings, these are Plaza Las Ocas and next to the riverbed.
Away from the coast, the town retains much of its authentic feel but also manages to cater well for visitors, so issues with language and finding the basics for children aren’t a problem.
Jalon is the principal town in the Val de Pop, a traditional agricultural area famous for wine, almonds and olives. Surrounding the valley are dramatic mountains, giving plenty of scope for walking and panoramic views down to the sea. Terrace walls built by the Moors characterise the landscape across the whole area
The coast is only a short drive away too. From its setting, in the middle of a peninsular, the house has good access to a variety of beaches and resorts within half an hour. Several nearby beaches have good family facilities with play areas, restaurants and easy parking, some also have little streams that toddlers can paddle in safely.
A little further afield, Valencia, is one of the most exciting cities in Europe and well worth a visit. Recently hosting the America’s Cup and the European Grand Prix, Valencia boasts a contemporary Arts and Sciences complex, art museums, a well preserved medieval quarter with World Heritage recognition, covered markets, the cathedral famous for keeping the Holy Grail, wonderful architecture and a lifestyle that embraces partying and eating well. Little ones love the (free) giant Gulliver play park, Aquarium and Bio Park (animal conservation park).
Getting There: Caserio del Mirador is set midway between the airports or Valencia and Alicante, being approx. 70 mins from Alicante and 80 from Valencia. www.skyscanner.net allows for general Spain searches, so the most suitable flights from your local airport can be identified easily. Car rental is essential.

Sarah and Johnny Robinson and their three children - Poppy, Florence and Charlie. Caserío del Mirador was inspired and influenced by Sarah and Johnny's experience of their travels with and without children. The house is an environment where people can relax and be together, a home that is shared to give a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The people, the food, the landscape, the Mediterranean
and of course the beautiful weather. We live in a wonderfully dramatic setting surrounded by ancient almond and olive groves with views down to the coast. The terraces, gardens and grounds give a wonderful sense of space, and we love the peace and tranquility - hearing birds sing or a distant dog bark.
The rhythm of Spanish life suits us well, nothing is rushed, people have time for each other, meals times are savoured and enjoyed.
Spending time together as a family is central to our lives, and the good weather gives us many options whether we want to enjoy being at the house or go out for the day.
Kids love going away, the adventure, the new experiences, making new friends and getting Mum and Dad to themselves.
Kids love jumping in the pool, meeting the animals and playing with newly discovered toys.
They love the stable block, home to Archy and Benjy the stable cats.
There are usually rabbits bouncing around somewhere, and if you are
lucky there might be a litter of baby rabbits.
Kids love the climbing frames, sand pit, slides, swings, trampoline and space to run around safely.
There are plenty of toys and books for inside activities and usually a group of kids will find something that they want to do together.
A favourite day out is a visit to the beach, playing in the sand and paddling in the sea.
Best of all is Kid's Tea, yummy food while Mum and Dad relax with a cool drink and chat to the other parents.

Wonderful holiday, magical family time and totally looked after by Sarah and JohnnyReview dated 03/12/2015
The hotel is extremely well equipped for babies and toddlers. In addition to the usual baby gear there are rabbits, hens, ponies, goats and a very chubby pig, called Beryl, all of which even our 8 months' old daughter found entertaining. There is a playground with swings and a slide, a sand pit and a swimming pool (not heated) and lots and lots of toys!
We were all very well looked after by Sarah and Johnny. The dinner times are very social, both the children's dinner which is served at 5.30pm with yummy and healthy food for the kiddies (and with a glass of rose for the mums) and the adults' supper which is a very gastronomic experience! The wine and the conversations flow! It was so lovely to relax in the evenings as we could see our little one sleeping peacefully on the monitor. It felt like we were staying with friends.
We would recommend this hotel!

Lovely relaxing and friendly break perfectly set up for families with young children, we didn't realise a holiday with a baby could be genuinely relaxing before this break!!Review dated 18/09/2014

As this was our first family holiday with our 4 month old baby we really wanted somewhere that made life easy as possile so that we actually had a holiday...with Caserio del Mirador we found just what we were looking for! The location is spectacular and Sarah and Johnny have thought of everything that you could possbily need to make a holiday with a baby stressfree and enjoyable.Review dated 17/05/2014
We loved our stay at Caserio del Mirador. Sarah and Johnny are superb hosts and we'll definitely be backReview dated 29/10/2013
This place is amazing! Loved, loved loved it. On a dreary, drizzling day in London town, it will keep me going. Stunning location. The food is amazing. And the host make everything easy. Go now!Review dated 04/10/2012
What a wonderful place!! It was our first holiday abroad with our 6 month old daughter and from start to end it was an absolute success. On arriving to the villa with a crying hungry baby, we were greeted by our names and ushered straight in to our room so the baby could be fed. That really set the tone for the rest of the week - the babies/children were always sorted out as a first priority (which then meant mum and dads could be left in peace!) which just made our holiday such a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Dinner time was a highlight for our daughter - she wasn't a keen eater prior to the holiday but sitting round the dinner table with all the other children experimenting with different veges and with Sarah's delicious home made purees... what was there not to like for an impressionable 6 month old?? The older children enjoyed feeding left overs to the rabbits, pig and horses.
My husband and I are keen travellers and never tho ...Review dated 11/09/2012

This accommodation is amazing for pre school kids. My daughter loved feeding the pigs each evening and having her first ever horse ride. Fabulous set up. Just need to watch the kids by the pool especially if you are one of the units that fronts the pool.Review dated 27/09/2011
A great location with amazing hospitalityReview dated 25/05/2011
our 2 year old loved it and so did we! The apartments are lovely and perfect for families - they have everything you need. The food was fab and the owners, Sarah & Johnny have obviously put a lot of thought into creating a place for fun and relaxation for all the family. Highly recommended!Review dated 08/09/2010
We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Caserio
del Mirador. Johnny and Sarah have obviously really thought about what you need
from a holiday with young children and it didn't disappoint. There were plenty
of toys, books, play equipment and animals to keep our son happy and sun
umbrellas, beach mats, pushchairs, baby back packs etc to borrow when we went
out for the day. Kids tea is a messy
affair, but it is a lot of fun and it is nice to be able to leave all the
clearing up to someone else. Once our
son was in bed it was lovely to be able to return to the outside dining area
for a delicious meal with the other guests.
The property is in a lovely secluded spot in the hills,
but within traveling distance of various beaches. The view down the valley to
the sea is amazing and during our sty there were some lovely sunrises.
Part way through our stay our son came out in chicken pox
which had been going around his nursery in the ...Review dated 13/06/2013

We have just returned from a fantastic stay at Caserio del Mirador with our 11 month old. It was a wonderful first family holiday with the perfect mix for babies/children and parents. We had happy days exploring and eating tapas locally and playing by the pool followed by some super evenings with wonderful wine and food cooked by the owner, Sarah, or enjoying the glorious views from our terrace having put together a tasty bite ourselves. The owners, Sarah and Johnny, really put their minds to making it a very happy holiday. Review dated 06/06/2012
"Caserio del Mirador, and Sarah and Johnny, are wonderful. It was our first holiday abroad with our 9-month year old son, and the fact that we have extremely fond memories of the days that we spent there, notwithstanding the tummy bug that our son caught literally the minute we touched down in Spain and which briefly knocked us for six, pays huge testament to the warmth of the welcome, amazing hospitality, delicious home-cooking delivered straight to our room, stunning views across the valleys, and Sarah's ability to take care of everything, no matter how small, to ensure that her guests have as stress-free a time as possible when children are in tow! As parents with a toddler, it's hard to imagine staying anywhere better, and we've been looking forward to our next opportunity to stay ever since we left."Review dated 04/10/2011
My husband and I along with our 21 month old son had a
fantastic two week break (August 2010) and would not hesitate to recommend it
for young families seeking a relaxing holiday where everyone’s needs - children
and adults - are catered for. It is a
beautiful location nestled amongst olive and almond groves and not much else so kids can roam freely from the pool to the
trampoline to see the horses, goats or rabbits without the fear of passing cars
yet it is only a 7 minute drive to the nearest bar/restaurant/supermarket and 25
minutes to our favourite beach ( Calpe ). Although you are not smack bang in
the middle of a holiday resort, so a car is a must have, there are plenty of
things to do both on and offsite. Onsite activities are mainly relaxing for the
adults and swimming, playing in the sandpit/trampoline/playground/ping pong
table or feeding the animals for the little ones. Within a 25-45 minute drive
there are a number of ...Review dated 09/09/2010

We had such a wonderful holiday. A great mix of stylish accommodation and friendly company and we'll definitely be back some time soon. Louisa has renamed one of her dolls Poppy - what a compliment! Review dated 03/11/2009
Just to say a HUGE thank you for making our holiday perfect. We had a fantastic time, as did Wilf, and look forward to coming again!Review dated 03/11/2009
I stayed at Caserio del Mirador - Apts Isabella and Fernando: We had the most fantastic time. Our son is 17 months old and we were not sure if our holiday would be that relaxing, we were wrong, it was fabulous and had decided the day we arrived that we would be returing next year. You will not regret going to Caserio del Mirador.Review dated 03/11/2009
We had an amazing time. We actually felt that we had a holiday. Sarah cooked for our children at their usual dinner time, and then when the kids were asleep she cooked for us. I would recommend this highly to anyone who doesnt want to put their children in a kids club, but still want a child orientated holiday. We will be back as long as they can fit us in!Review dated 03/11/2009
"Sit gazing down the scenic Jalon valley with its olive trees from the view point at the end of the garden and you'll realise what a magical place this is. As goats' bells clang in the distance, it's the perfect spot for a romantic sundowner while the little ones play at your feet in a sandpit." Jane Knight, The Times, Sept. 08. Review dated 03/11/2009
Sarah and Johnny have carved an idyllic family retreat into the upper slopes of Valencias stunning countryside, and greet their guests with utter welcome.... Our 3 year old was in heaven, dividing his time judiciously between the trampoline, sandpit, pool, donkey sanctuary, and a multitude of slides and swings....views that you could spend a lifetime not getting tired of....For a family holiday where the family can get on with the serious business of having fun together, Caserio del Mirador is a must-visit!Review dated 03/11/2009
We had the most relaxing holiday we have ever had with a child. We had a stress free, arguement free ! week in the sun. Food was delicious, company was great, and our daughter ( almost 3) absolutely loved it. Would highly recommend it!Review dated 03/11/2009
We had the most wonderful time staying with Sarah and Johnny, they were great hosts and live in a beautiful place. Our 15 month old daughter loved her 2 weeks of playing by the pool, with the kittens, feeding the rabbits, bouncing on the trampoline and having dinner with her new toddler friends at tea timeReview dated 03/11/2009
