Bramblings is a picture-perfect boutique barn for two plus a baby enjoying a peaceful setting on the Bolotho estate near Falmouth and within a short drive of many of Cornwall's best beaches, harbour towns and excellent eateries.
The barn is one of just two on the estate and both were recently renovated and fitted out to a very high standard. Now, each stylish cottage boasts a double bedroom with huge sleigh bed, a bathroom with both romantic roll-top bath and an invigorating walk-in shower, a spacious, open plan living area with high spec kitchen and all mod cons (dishwasher, microwave, washer dryer etc.), plus a large private patio with high quality teak dining furniture and loungers.
There are boutique hotel-standard touches a plenty with 500-thread count Egyptian cotton linens on the beds, cosy dressing gowns, luxurious locally made toiletries provided in the bathrooms and Bose iPod docks, flat-screen TVs, Blue-ray DVD players, complimentary Wi-Fi and fabulously romantic log burners in the lounges.
The interiors are a stylish mix of contemporary country cottage and French glamour, all against a muted template of chalky whites and grey-blue tones, accessorised with local artworks. Outside, the courtyards are both secluded, neither overlooking the other and both ideal for long lazy evenings listening to the birds and relaxing with a bottle of wine whilst junior is tucked up in the cot provided. There are also extensive grounds that guests are welcome to explore. An apple and cherry orchard and two acre paddock lie just beyond the courtyard the cottages are set around. They frame a glorious view of rolling fields and woods. Neighbours include the occasional deer as well as many of the wild birds who make their home at Bolotho.
A handy list of nursery gear is provided including a cot with bedding, baby bath, a small basket of toys and a highchair. The baby gear, combined with the fact babysitting is available on request or gourmet ready meals delivered for a special night in, make a stay at Bolotho an ideal romantic escape for new parents with just one baby in tow. Golf, yacht charter, surfing, windsurfing and in-cottage beauty therapy can all be pre-booked
Please note: Whilst there's plenty of room in the bedroom for a cot, those with toddlers may find it less suitable as there are not additional beds.
Bramblings is one of two cottages set around a courtyard on the Bolotho estate just outside the village of Kea between Turo and Falmouth on Cornwall's south coast. There's a beautiful 18-hole golf course alongside the cottages, a grocery shop within a mile's walk, a country pub within three miles and a long list of beaches and coves within a short drive.
Build up an appetite by hiring bikes (baby seats available) and following a trail from nearby (3miles) Bissoe Bike Hire and then toast your good work with a late lunch at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen at Watergate Bay. Families are positively encouraged during the day and it's the best time to soak up the fabulous views of the beach and surfers. Alternatively, try posh fish and chips at Rick Stein's Fish, Chips and Oyster bar in Falmouth (7miles).
Introduce little ones to furry friends at the National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek, take a boat trip across to the Roseland Peninsula on the King Harry ferry, or try a real life Thomas the Tank Engine day out at the Bodmin Steam Railway. Alternatively, give junior an early introduction to the arts with a trip to the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden in charming St Ives, or stumble on the magical woods cafe and playground after a walk through the beautiful Cardinham Woods.
Nearest Medical Services (GP & A&E): Carnon Downs surgery (1 mile), Truro A&E (3 miles)

We are Frances and Steve Grant and we're delighted to welcome you to Bolotho Barns. We moved here and converted the barns from 19th century stables and farm buildings in 2010. The conversions took six months and our objective was to create the kind of perfect holiday cottages that we would like to stay in ourselves. We opened for guests in August 2010 and have enjoyed meeting all our lovely guests ever since.
I am originally from Cornwall, returning here 12 years ago with my family and I have a background in the travel industry, interior design and property renovation. Steve has an IT background with a keen interest in sailing. We both enjoy all watersports.
We are very excited about welcoming guests to this beautiful part of Cornwall. We hope you love the barns as much as we do. Guests are welcome to explore land and enjoy the views.

Beautiful setting (the fields behind our barn were full of daffodils when we were there) and we loved exploring the fields and woods. Home-made scones and brownies were a real treat to enjoy in the suntrap garden. And it was a nice touch to be able to borrow a baby carrier from the owner which meant we could take junior on some stunning clifftop walks.Review dated 12/04/2015
We stayed at Bolotho Barns in August 2014 and really felt it was a home from home. The owners have thought of everything to make you feel comfortable and our son was absolutely thrilled with the box of toys and played with everything for hours. Great location for exploring Cornwall too and we'd definitely stay there again.Review dated 12/09/2014
We had such a nice time and saw so many beautiful parts of Cornwall but being able to come home to the barn each evening made it even more special. It really was a five star experience and we will be recommending it to our friends, especially our NCT friends with babies we could not have had a more perfect base for our first holiday as a family.
This is the first time that a break in a cottage has exceeded our requirements and expectations and all the unexpected big and little things that were provided made things so easy - thank you very much.Review dated 07/09/2013
A wonderful place to stay - perfect for tired new parents and a baby! All the thoughtful details such as cakes and scones on arrival and a Sunday newspaper really added to the experience of being made welcome and comfortable.Review dated 27/04/2011
We have just spent a thoroughly enjoyable week at Bolotho Barns - Bramblings. The accommodation was excellent, newly furbished and ideal for our 10 month old daughter who got really excited about the toys provided!!! From booking to departure, this stay was completely hassle free and added extras such as delicious homemade baking, basic groceries and fresh flowers on arrival really made our break. Would most certainly recommend this accommodation and we are already looking at booking again for next year.Review dated 24/11/2010
