Bavaria in Germany is a charming destination for family holidays. Whether staying in a traditional child friendly hotel, a quaint chalet or apartment, there is much in the way of suitable accommodation on offer.
With the beautiful scenery in the area, activities out in nature are the perfect option for the whole family. Visit Ruhpolding, with its beautiful valley which offers plenty in the way of nature walks, fascinating grottos and fairytale forests to explore. The theme park in the valley has more than 40 attractions on offer, including Babyland for the little ones and a mountain rollercoaster for older children.
Head out along the Romantic Road, a 255 mile route which can be traveled on land or on water. For the adults, the vineyards are of interest and for a gentler and slower journey, the whole family will enjoy the Romantic Road Motorcoach, a hop-on-hop-off bus which runs along the route. Along the way visit Wuerzburg, offering the DAV climbing center with ascents suitable for all types of climbers from beginners to professionals with children’s courses available for the kids.
Take a trip to Füssen and see the castles built by the Fairy-Tale King along with a gorgeous panorama over the Alps and the Lech River. For adventurous souls there is a 1,575 foot long tree-top walkway, situated 66 ft above the ground, which spans the border with Austria.
