This architect-designed cottage has stunning good looks
inside and out. It is set in the grounds of the owner's grade 2 listed property
but with its own private gardens and uninterrupted views to the south over the
adjoining orchard towards the Cotswolds escarpment. It is a comfortably elegant
blend of old and new with its green oak aisle frame construction on a Cotswold
stone plinth and its interior blending high quality natural stone and oak with
contemporary luxuries in the form of underfloor heating, decadent free-standing
baths, powerful showers and a stunning bespoke oak kitchen with Aga and all mod
cons including a wine fridge stocked with a few chilled bottles to ensure
arrival night relaxation.
In all there are 3 bedrooms and the property sleeps 6. Parents with babies or
toddlers in tow will particularly like the large master bedroom with its
vaulted ceiling set into the oak aisle frame and adjoining “baby suite” with
Mothercare wooden cot and essential accessories and luxury ensuite bathroom
with its walk in wet room shower and romantic freestanding bath for two. Those
who succumb to the powerful draw of sharing a long and luxurious evening bath
and bottle of wine, might find the king-sized bed with Egyptian cotton linen
seriously difficult to get up from, but will draw some comfort from the fact
that the bedroom's flat-screen HDTV has Freeview with Cbeebies, so an early
morning baby/toddler wake-up call doesn't need to necessarily negate a lie-in!
The sitting room, with its French limestone fireplace (log burner), comfortable
designer furnishings, IPod dock, WiFi and wall mounted HDTV (SKY plus, Blue Ray
DVD player and selection of movies provided) opens directly onto a large
natural stone patio and overlooks the orchard. There is plenty of room for
little ones to play safely on the lawns surrounding the patio, whilst parent
can relax and enjoy the setting from the comfort of the high quality outdoor
furniture, which includes a giant professional style BBQ. The adjacent orchard
has a variety of apples plums, gages and pears and is home to the hen house and
guests are welcome to pick their own fresh fruit and eggs when available. For
more supplies, the village is on the doorstep and has an excellent shop/post
office with a deli counter, fresh bread daily, and organic meats and vegetables
from the farms surrounding along with an off-license for that bottle of wine or
champagne that you may have forgotten to get in, plus a very good pub/
restaurant, serving bar snacks and great quality restaurant meals.
All together Windfall Cottage is an idyllic and indulgent retreat that once
found, can be very hard to leave!

The cottage is set in a small village with direct access onto the hill behind which has endless walking, mountain biking and other opportunities. There is a village shop with a deli, post office and a church. Plus a floodlit all year tennis club and a pub / restaurant only a four minute walk away which serves excellent food.
The bistros and boutiques of Cheltenham and Broadway are within 15-20 minutes, whilst famously pretty gastro-pub and antique shop-filled villages of Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Camden are also within a short-drive. Of course the Cheltenham Gold Cup and other horse-racing festivals are a major attraction.
For a special treat for mums or dads, the award-wining and very stylish 'C-Side Spa' at Cowley Manor is within 20minutes drive and now offers day-spa packages from £105. Alternatively, for family-friendly daytime eating, stocking up on organic goodies, boutique shopping and the UK's best day spa, according to Conde Nast Traveller Readers (2008) don't miss a trip to Daylesford Organics. The cafe's outdoor terrace is lovely on a sunny day especially when combined with a sunny drive in Windfall Cottage's classic convertible Porsche 911 Carrera, which can be rented by the day - although fitting a baby car seat in it may be a challenge!
For entertaining babies and toddlers, Toddington Steam Railway is just 5 minutes away and popular with Thomas the Tank fans, although Thomas himself may not be in residence. Also very near is the impressive Domestic Fowl Trust visitors centre at which little ones can feed chickens and ducks as well as enjoying the toddler-friendly in and outdoor play areas, including a soft play zone. There's also a shops selling nice wooden toys along-side all sorts of chicken memorabilia and a tea room offering basic meals. For a more comprehensive range of animals and indoor attractions including a lovely 'Touch Barn' and play barn with electric and pedal power mini tractors, try the Cotswolds Farm Park. In very wet weather, the Fundays Play Barn in Bourton on the Water is a useful retreat and has a special zone for very little ones plus a basic cafe with newspapers and magazines.

This cottage is utterly fabulous. If you like a luxurious feel yet want a family (and toddler)friendly set up this is the place for you. We stayed with a 22month old who loved all the toys and her own bedroom, and an 8 week old baby and all our needs were met. If you used to stay in boutique hotels before your little ones arrived, this place will give you the same feel. The swings in the village are a hit for kids, and the slipper bath (with a glass of wine I suggest) will be a joy for all those wanting a long soak. I couldn't rate it higher and hope very much to stay again :-)

We stayed at Windfall Cottage between Christmas and New Year. The cottage is absolutely gorgeous and had everything we needed to make our stay fantastic. The combination of luxurious layout and facilities and owners that were extremely helpful, made our stay comfortable and relaxing. The cottage is in a delightful village with shops, a pub at the end of the road, and great walks from the house, away from busy roads and with a playground a couple of minutes away. We also had great trips out to for lunch at Daylesford Organics, shopping in Cheltenham and the kids especially loved the journey on a steam train from Toddington Steam Railway. The stay was a real treat and we would recommend it to anyone. I'm sure we'll be back ourselves before too long.

We had a great weekend break in late February for my mother-in-law's 60th birthday. Windfall cottage was perfect for us - 3 lovely double bedrooms and a cute 'cot suite' for our 2 year old with the added bonus of toys and books for him to play with. The house is stunning! Unusually the weather was good too which was an added bonus.

We stayed with some friends and their babies at Windfall cottage over Easter and had a wonderful time. The cottage is extremely well equipped. Theresa and Keith made us feel as if nothing was too much trouble. The baby room has a great selection of toys and books and they even provided toiletries for the children. The adults were looked after as well, with a choice of wines left for our enjoyment in the wine fridge. We will definitely make a return visit and hopefully next time it will be for longer!

Fantastic, a fabulous house in a great location. The little extra touches were well thought out and made all the difference. The area had loads to keep everyone from the toddler to the grandparents happy, we loved the chickens especially! Great hosts."
