This incredibly charming 19th century farmhouse is now a wonderfully family-friendly retreat sleeping up to eight (plus cots) in glamorous eclectic style. Nestled amongst 15 acres of grounds with a large outdoor pool and a lovely enclosed garden, the house enjoys truly breathtaking view of magnificent Pyrenees one side, and a lake-side nature reserve the other. Inside its just as beautiful and has clearly been renovated by someone with a passion for the character of the building. Gorgeous antique beds, claw foot baths and elegant amoires combine with modern convienences like power showers, dishwashers and microwaves, all cleverly hidden, so as not to detract from the character and beauty of the antique oak floors, high beamed ceilings and inglenook fireplaces. Tresbos Farmhouse is a stunning place to simply kick back, relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the French rural location in indulgent and luxurious surroundings, with the added bonuses of a long list of baby and toddler gear (even a pushchair) provided.

Trebos sleeps 8-10 in 3 large double bedrooms and a twin (2 singles) bedroom all with space for additional cots or toddler beds. There are two fabulous bathrooms and a downstairs WC. The living and dining areas are spacious whilst the huge gardens allow for play areas, poolside sunbathing and secluded spots for reading or snoozing.

Reviews Show Location Map Its all to easy to adapt to this glamorous version of French rural life and do little more than relax by the pool, soaking up the beautiful lake and mountain views, venturing out only to the local auberge for meals (fantastic set menu for 30euros), the local town's (three within 15mins) weekly food market for supplies, or the weekend antique markets for bargain hunting, but there's plenty to tempt your further afield. Around 10 minutes away is the vast leisure lake at Mielan with it sandy 'beach' and forested picnic and play areas. Great skiing in the Pyrenees, surfing and shopping in Biarritz, historic Tarbes and Toulouse are all all around an hour's drive. Whilst Pau, known as France's Green City, is even less. The chic Spanish resort of San Sebastian makes a great day trip with its lovely beach, great shopping and beach-side Thalasotherapy centre. Little ones will enjoy the fairground high on the hill overlooking the bay reached by a funicular railway. Be sure to sample the pintxos (Basque tapas).

Getting There: The airport at Pau is a 60-70-minute drive away, whilst Toulouse is about 90 minutes away. The nearest TGV stations are Lannemezan, a 20-min drive away and Tarbes, 30 minutes away.

Fantastic holiday. Spacious well maintained property and owners extremely efficient and obliging. Children's needs very well catered for. Property far exceeded expectations, much nicer than depicted and location of pool and children's play area perfect. Overall feel was that you spent a week relaxing at a friend's place rather than booking through an agent. Relaxed holiday and good value for money. Food that we ordered was v tasty!

We have just returned from a FANTASTIC week at Tresbos. We have baby twins and a toddler and found the facilities for the children second to none. We described it as a home from home, but like no home we will ever be fortunate enough to own, due to the level of luxury and the amazing views! Can recommend 100% and we are definitely returning again.

I have been telling anyone who will listen how fantastic it was. It is usually so difficult to have anything resembling a holiday with toddlers in tow but we had a really relaxing break. The surroundings are so gorgeous that you don't even mind the mundane stuff like changing nappies and the daily battle to brush their teeth! We loved all the little boho chic touches around the house. It was great that you also had so much to amuse the grown ups (table tennis, badminton, golf clubs etc - all much appreciated.)

The house was lovely - stylish, extremely spacious and definitely the best holiday accommodation I've rented in terms of equipment, toys and games for children. The meal and wine on arrival night, along with all the supplies in the house were very much appreciated.

Stylish, well thought through and eclectic, Tresbos is a fabulous holiday find for hard working parents and their pleasure seeking offspring. I challenge anyone not to relax in the idyllic gardens, looking out across the swimming pool, nearby lake and snow tipped Pyrenees - kids or no kids! To be recommended!

Owner Profile
The Coleman Family

We are the Coleman family, Vicki, Andy, Will (5) and Finn(3) - You'll notice I don't include the adults ages because its too scary to see it in print! We are based in Essex due to Andy's busy working schedule although we do secretly harbour the idea of retiring one day to our lovely home in France.

The area is so peaceful and beautiful its hard not to start relaxing as soon as we leave the airport. If we can manage not to rush straight to the house, we try to have a leisurely lunch on the way and then home and straight into the pool. The boys love the garden and the roman steps into the pool have become legend in our family as the place both boys learnt to swim. We never arrive at the house without friends or family (we've tried but we've become very popular over the last few years!) and sitting in the garden, after a relaxing dinner, with a large glass of rose, watching the owl and the bats fly around is truly a magical evening. We always leave with a smile on our faces, looking forward to our next visit.

There is so much space in the house and the garden, children really get the chance to relax and enjoy themselves while helpfully wearing themselves out! The pool has a lovely shallow end with roman steps which is perfect for little legs and the ELC toys and wendy house keep them entertained for hours. Taking the bikes down to the lake, children can see first hand the amazing array of birds and wildlife in the area and the open starry skies at night are great for shooting star spotting. There is a little waterpark 20 minutes away where your young dolphins can try out the slides and the mini rapids, ariel climbing on the way to Spain, where even as young as 3 they can climb safely through the trees with a guide helping them. There are old castles and abbeys to explore as well as the amazing bubble car which takes you up to the top of the highest mountain in the Pyrenees for awe inspiring views.
After which, its time to return to the garden and sunloungers for a well earned lie down!
