Tredethick's popularity means you often have to book a long time in advance and within minutes of arriving it's easy to see why. Although peacefully located, around a central courtyard all nine pretty cottages are within two minutes walk of the family-friendly indoor heated pool, a fantastic soft play zone (wif-fi and Lavazza coffee for parents), a games room with a huge sandpit, pool table and table tennis, and an adventure playground that will keep older siblings occupied … well, endlessly! That's not to mention the biggest attraction of all, the gaggle of farm animals and, every junior guest's hero, Farmer Tim who leads daily animal feeding, egg collecting and pony rides (twice-weekly) in part farmer, part magician/children's entertainer style.
The cottages themselves are all decorated to a high standard in modern country cottage style. As a parent himself, Tim evidently knows just what it takes to make a stress free holiday with toddlers and has achieved a balance of style and comfort that will ensure that parents of the average 'trashing toddler' won't be on tenterhooks! Parents will also appreciate the fact that cottages come equipped with all the usual kit plus microwaves, dishwashers, DVD/VHS players, CD players and basic Freeview (Cbeebies!).
Scantlebury: This sunny cottage has recently been updated and sleeps 2/3 in 1 double bedroom and 1 gallery single above the large living area (ideal for guests aged 10 or above). The courtyard benefits from morning sunshine making it ideal for outdoor breakfasts or, during the summer months, a lovely spot to relax with a glass of wine once any little ones are safely tucked up in bed. The master bedroom is a haven for parents with a large double bed and a sunny position. Scantlebury's bathroom has a wood panelled bath and separate power shower.
Share Tips & Advice Show Location Map The scenic coastal town of Fowey, recently voted the third most aspirational place to live in the UK, is just 15 minutes drive, whilst the riverside town of Lostwithiel, with its good selection of eateries and specialist shops, is only a mile away. Alternatively, a scenic farm trail leads from the cottages along the banks of the River Fowey to the creek side village of Lerryn and a great family friendly pub for meals out. Tim and Nicky are both fonts of knowledge on the best beaches and attractions for young families.
