The Hayloft forms part of the one of the oldest buildings in the ancient village of Lerryn. It's sitting room window seat overlooks the tidal river (a tributary of the River Fowey) and the Stepping Stones that appear at low tide. With woods on both sides of the river there are beautiful walks all year round, which are believed to be the inspiration for Kenneth Grahame’s “Wind in the Willows”.

Inside, the front door leads upstairs to the sitting room, with views over the river and a wonderfully comfy arm chair and sofa,. There is a TV with built in DVD and a radio/CD, both of which are digital. The bedroom has plenty of room to spare for the travel cot and a king-size bed with gorgeous Egyptian cotton bedding (White Company) that can make it very difficult to get up every morning - although the powerful showers with gorgeous, organic Speizia toiletries often the blow considerably!

The well-equipped kitchen has a ceramic hob, with an electric oven, a microwave, dishwasher and washer dryer. Outside, The Hayloft has its own, furnished, outside seating area on the village green, next to the boat house, overlooking the river.

The village of Lerryn is a lovely spot for riverside and woodland walks. The village stores maybe only a small shop but it has a tardis-like feel and an long list local produce from over 25 Cornish suppliers from washing powder to award-winning sausages! Five minutes away by car, Lostwithiel is a pretty market town with some lovely shops, ideal for pottering about. Some of the best include the 'Seriously Good' Deli, the Bakery selling more than 10 types of bread, and Rhubarb Interiors with its collection of Cath Kidston and Greengate interiors accessories. Don't miss the weekly fish van that visits Lerryn each Wednesday.

Cycle hire with tagalongs or child-seats is available in nearby Padstow (24miles) from where you can join the easy Camel Trail along a disused railway track with beautiful estuary views. You can go as a far as Bodmin (14 miles each way) but most settle for Wadebridge (6 miles). Rain needn’t mar a stay as there are plenty of indoor attractions within easy reach including the Eden project with its toddler-friendly land train, or Crealy Adventure Park which has a petting farm and a play zone specifically aimed at under 5s. For a dry day, go for an enchanted forest experience, head to Cardinham Woods and stumble upon the wonderful tea shop set in a centuries old woodsman's cottage, with a handy children's play area outside and useful baby-changing room.

There are many excellent restuarants nearby including Michelin star-winners Ripleys in St Merryn (10mins) and Nathan Outlaws Restaurant at the Marina Villa Hotel in Fowey (10mins) . More child-friendly options include Rick Stein's Fish and Chips in Padstow and the stunningly set, laid back, Windswept Cafe in Fowey.

The place is gorgeous - the attention to detail and overall feel is fantastic. I don't think I've ever stayed in accommodation so well-equipped, so stylishly. Lerryn is lovely and we were blessed with very good weather for the time of year (March). We would like to return sometime and would definitely recommend.
