For the ultimate family getaway to the heart of rural Suffolk, what more could you ask for than a stunning listed building conversion complete with a windmill playhouse and home cinema!
Formerly a Victorian flour mill, Swilland Mill has been newly transformed into three 5-star properties which can be booked individually or as one big house for up to 14 people, making it perfect for family get togethers. The imposing facade, chimney and many original features have been preserved within the stylish, contemporary design, from red brick walls and whitewashed timber ceilings to intriguing pulleys and the flour lift. While grown-ups will appreciate the high spec furnishings, fixtures and finishing touches, the mill provides a storybook setting for imaginative youngsters, with plenty to do, inside and out.
All three properties are equipped with large flat screen TV’s, the full Sky package, DVD players, Nintendo Wii consoles and Wi-Fi, with the added bonus of a projector screen for movie nights in The Lucam. Enjoy BBQ’s on the patios, swingball in the enclosed lawned gardens and table football tournaments in the shared playhouse. The old mill pond is now a fishpond with a fountain but this is safely fenced off.
When the youngsters are tucked up in bed, what better way to unwind than with a glass of chilled champagne in the bubbly shared hot tub, gazing at the stars or flopping into comfy leather sofas by a wood burning stove. The kitchens are ultra sleek affairs with state of the art mod cons and range cookers while glass dining tables with elegant leather seats give mealtimes that extra designer sparkle. The simple, luxurious touches flow through into the bedrooms and bathrooms, including smooth, cool tiling, corner baths, fluffy towels and Egyptian cotton linen.
The local countryside and villages are a pleasure to explore on bikes or on foot and from petting farms to historic sites there’s a wide range of family attractions within 15 minutes drive. Sample Suffolk ales with good food at The Moon and Mushroom pub in Swilland, try the fish and chips at the Grundisburgh Dog and stock up on local produce at Ashbocking’s Swiss Farm and the Grange Farm Shop, Hasketon.
