Son Rengo combines the luxury of a charming and tranquil 3-bedroom private pool villa with a wealth of family friendly extras, meaning parents will find their holiday exactly what it ought to be; relaxing! Often a rarity when travelling with tots in tow.
The fully air conditioned villa is owned by the friendly, multi-generation, Webb family- owners of the hugely popular Hotel Migjorn and who moved to their former organic farm from the North of England some years ago. They have worked hard to recreate Hotel Migjorn's winning formula; simple but stylish interiors combine with a relaxed atmosphere and a vast understanding of the challenges when travelling with little ones, within the villa. Thanks to the knowledge gained with their own little people,they have created a family haven with a useful list of baby gear and a very handy pre-arrival grocery and baby essentials shopping service that is a Godsend to those running the gauntlet of ever increasing low-cost airline baggage limits.
Lucky guests renting the villa will enjoy the best of both worlds since it enjoys a secluded setting in its own gardens with a private, gated pool, but is short drive of the market town of Campos and the beaches of Santanyi and Ses Selines. When a break from the cooking is in order after a day on the beach has worn everyone out, the owners can offer a handy frozen meal service which can either be ordered 24 hours in advance or stocked ready for arrival, making a relaxing night in or enjoying dinner on the terrace even easier.
Villa Accommodation Overview:
The villa's interior style is best described as rustic chic with a hint of luxury. Exposed stone walls, beamed ceilings and warm terracotta tiles, are offset with wrought iron bed frames, comfy neutral soft furnishing and hand-picked, wooden antiques.
Guests enter into a spacious, open plan living area with comfortable lounge (TV and DVD player), dining area and kitchen equipped with oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer. There's also a utility room with washing machine and laundry facilities.
There are three character filled bedrooms comprising a ground floor ensuite double and an upstairs (gated top and bottom) double and a twin with shared a family bathroom. There is a lovely large roof terrace (safely fenced) offering fantastic views over the surrounding, open countryside, making it a really lovely spot for taking in the sunset and a glass of wine once the tots are tucked up in bed.
Outside there is an extensive, enclosed, private garden with outdoor furniture and sun loungers. There are plenty of shady spots for mini guests to escape the sun and there is a covered dining terrace ideal for alfresco dining. The villa's large private swimming pool overlooks the countryside and is equipped with a sensory alarm. Bikes can be delivered to the house for active family days out.
Despite its tranquil setting there are several little towns with decent supermarkets and good restaurants within 5-10minutes drive of the villa. Plus, Es Trenc beach, reputedly the best beach on the entire island, is only 10mins away. However, families often find Cala Santanyi (10kms) more convenient as visitors can park close to the beach, easily hire beds and sun umbrellas, and there are family-friendly restaurants. The town itself is also popular due to its combination of charm and traditional architecture with interior design boutiques and international restaurants. The twice weekly markets in the town square has hand crafted jewellery, flower, fresh local produce and leather goods stalls. Arrive early and people watch from one of the many cafes or restaurants lining the square.
Alternatively, stay at little closer to home and hire bikes (trailers and child seats available) and cycle to the nearby beaches and villages - the perfect way to burn off some of holidays over indulgences.
Getting There: The villa is just 25minutes drive from Palma Airport, serviced by low-cost airlines from most of the UK's airports. BFB finds that www.skyscanner.net is the most user-friendly flight finder.
Car hire is highly recommended but not essential, since taxis can be affordable and there's little need to wander too far.
