Seaside House is a smart three-bedroom, three bathroom, family home set within sight of the sea in the famous yachting town of Cowes on the Isle of Wight. It's interior is smart and contemporary but designed very much for young family life with a huge list of useful gear (see grey box below) and a enclosed, decked, garden making a relaxing trip en famille a breeze!
The layout of the house is ideal for two families or taking grandparents along as the ground floor has a twin room and bathroom, and the master bedroom and childrens room are on top floor (both with ensuites) allowing everyone their own space/ privacy. There are contemporary luxuries in the form of IPod Dock, DVD, Flatscreen TVs, Freeview and WIFI, along with a dishwasher, microwave and washing machine in the fully fitted kitchen, and two balconies (safely railed and with lockable doors) for enjoying the sea views.
Outside, the decked garden has dining furniture and sun loungers with plenty of space for crawlers and new walkers, although older toddlers will no doubt be itching to hit the beach, a 15 minute walk away!
The house is within a short stroller dash of playground, the beach, the marina and a host of shops and bistros. As a result, once there, there's very little need to use the car unless you want to explore further afield.
Famed for its sailing events, Cowes remains a small town with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The pedestrianised high street is crammed with individual boutiques, art galleries and shops, generally with a nautical theme.
The nearest beach, Cowes, is a 15-minute walk from Seaside House and has a gently shelving sand and shingle bay ideal for family bathing and gentle water sports such as dinghy sailing and windsurfing. It is well served with a café and pub supplying decent food and plenty of refreshments.
Nearby family-friendly attractions include: Robin Hill Country Adventure Park which, when not being the location for the fabulous Bestival event, is also a brilliant wildlife park attraction, Black Gang Chine theme park, and Amazon World, both ideal for rainy days with lots of indoor activities suitable for under 5s.
Nearest Medical Facilities: Doctor in Cowes (5mins Drive away) and A&E in Newport (St Marys Hospital - 10mins drive)
Getting There: Red Funnel operate a regular car ferry between Southampton and East Cowes (55mins daily), plus a Red Jet fast passenger catamaran to Cowes (23mins most days), also from Southampton. Wightlink offer a ferry service from Portsmouth to Fishbourne (37 a day lasting 35mins) and Ryde (41 a day lasting 15mins), and from Lymmington (New Forest) to Yarmouth (15 a day lasting 30mins). There are flights from most North England and Scotland airports to Southampton and London, Bristol and Birmingham to Portsmouth. See www.skyscanner.net to find routes/airlines.

Seaside House is a lovely, modern house ideally located to explore both Cowes and further afield. We immediately felt at home and didn't have to worry about my son's safety at all. In fact, he was far too immersed in all the MANY new toys and books that were provided for his enjoyment! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place for a relaxing baby-friendly holiday, and the IOW is lovely.
