Le Sarrail is a cluster of three newly converted luxury houses that wouldn't look amiss on the pages of Wallpaper* and Elle Decoration in a setting that could inspire the most reluctant of artists. It’s the realisation of a dream for, Becky and Philip, the style-savvy parents who renovated them, but also the answer to the prayers of many families just like them. Along with the mid-century classic furniture pieces, luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets, WIFI and IPod docks, come a long list of nursery gear, a host of toys, and funky little log-cabin playhouse, not forgetting the heated outdoor pool, the elegant lines and chic loungers of which are very often accessorised with a collection of kiddie inflatables.

Peacefully set amongst the vineyards of the Malpere region with stunning panoramic views from almost any where you stand, Le Sarail has a wonderfully tranquil and relaxed atmosphere which soon has guests settling into a laid back routine of long lazy breakfasts on the terrace, a splash in the pool, an afternoon BBQ punctuated by trips down to the trampoline and play house, followed by languid evenings watching the sun set whilst little ones potter around the gardens. The excellent meal delivery service means there's no need to even cook some nights. In fact, an aromatherapy massage followed by a delicious meal delivered to the house and its hard to imagine any where anyone would rather be! The log-burning stoves and DVD/CD players make for cosy evenings year-round after exploring the pretty local towns, including the world famous medieval castle 'la cité' of Carcassonne (just 20 minutes away), or even skiing in the Pyrenean resorts, which are less than an hour away.

Maison Figue is the smallest of the three houses and sleeps five (plus cot) in three bedrooms. The ground floor and terrace inter-connect with Maison Citron (3-bedrooms sleeping 6) if required, thus creating a very large 6 bedroom house. Downstairs is open plan living space opening onto a large covered private terrace with table and chairs, gas BBQ and fantastic far-reaching views of the Pyrenees. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, five-ring gas range, washing machine, microwave and large fridge-freezer. The dining area boasts a large zinc top table which seats six, there is also a comfortable lounge area with wood burning stove. Upstairs comprises three good sized bedrooms; master bedroom with king size bed and ensuite with wet-room style shower, one twin bedroom, one single bedroom and a bathroom. Both master and twin bedrooms have french windows with wrought iron balastrade opening to reveal uninterrupted views of the countryside and gardens.

  • We have just returned from a two week stay at Le Sarrail with our two girls aged two and four. We loved it! The accommodation is lovely, a real home away from home and has everything you might need. The girls loved all the space and freedom they had to run around and play in the different playhouses, on the trampoline, in the pool etc. The grounds are beautiful and are really safe for small children. Becky and Phil are very welcoming and were happy to answer any questions we had. Overall it is a great place to stay and we look forward to going back someday!Review dated 28/06/2016

  • Absolutely first class accommodation! Great relaxed environment for the kids. Our 2 1/2yr old loved the trampoline and pool. Can't wait to come back again!Review dated 13/09/2014

  • We had a wonderful holiday and will most definitely be returning.Review dated 16/06/2013

  • Our boys are age 2 and 3 - we have already booked a return visit for next year. This is the perfect holiday for our family - great facilities for the children and relaxation for us. Thank youReview dated 01/11/2012

  • A great place to be, for grown ups and kids. We loved the play barn, the playhouse in the pool area was great too. Apartment was well equipped with numerous toys and books (didn't need to take our own afterall!). Great hosts, friendly and helpful. Views from the barn and pool were sublime. Boulangerie short drive.Review dated 01/11/2012

  • We just wanted to say thank you for giving us the most incredibly calm, relaxing holiday we could ever wish to have had with two small children in tow! We can't express just how much we enjoyed and appreciated every aspect of your beautiful home. On paper it would seem impossible to create a place where adults and children could be equally happy and relaxed, in our experience it has usually been one or the other. It was such a treat for us to be in beautiful 'grown up' surroundings, wonderful furniture, uninterrupted views, and most importantly peace, while the children could enjoy that all important feeling of freedom to explore the little houses, the barn and the pool. What you have created really is totally unique, what clever people you are!!Review dated 07/07/2014

  • Beautiful place, highly recommended.Review dated 25/10/2010

  • We have found a little piece of heaven and we shall return. Many thanks to Becky, Phil & their lovely girls for their hospitality, warmth and friendliness, they have made our trip even more special. Until our next visit...Review dated 03/11/2009

  • We were privileged to have been the first families to fill Le Sarrail - fabulous houses in a fabulous setting - we hope everyone that follows us will have as much fun, enjoyment and laughter that we have had.Review dated 03/11/2009

  • "...here’s a place with genuine class... an oasis of retro-chic style....the luxuries are all modern — crisp Egyptian-cotton sheets, iPod docks, gas barbecues and all. There’s a good shared pool, a huge open barn for entertaining and a log cabin for the kids to play in, all with a view over vineyards to the Pyrenees. It’s where we’re heading this summer." • La Sarrail was perfect. It had everything we wanted, but not too much that we felt we were paying for things we didn't need. Would highly recommend it and definitely returnReview dated 03/11/2009

  • Arriving at Le Sarrail is the nearest I have come to the feeling of staying in a boutique hotel since I had children and stopped hotel holidays! The house is immaculately designed and decorated, the views beautiful, the children's facilities plentiful and excellent. It's a great location for exploring Languedoc-Roussillon with lots of lovely toewns and villages nearby to explore. What makes this a really special place is the lovely familly who own Le Sarrail who have created a wonderful atmosphere and make you feel so welcome. I thoroughly recommend it - we will definitely be going back!Review dated 03/11/2009

  • We had a fantastic, relaxed holiday here. The owners were helpful but unobtrusive and the facilities were high quality and well thought through. Good kitchen equipment, comfortable beds, plenty of fluffy towels and great kiddy play equipment. Its a great area to explore also. Highly recommended.Review dated 03/11/2009

  • We had a fantastic holiday at Maison Figue. Our little boy was occupied 24-7 and worn out by the evenings! We were made to feel very welcome and provided with lots of information about the local area and sites to see. A huge thank you to Becky and PhilReview dated 03/11/2009
