This scenically set 1920s bungalow with 4-bedrooms has everything from a beach 10 minutes away down a country lane, to gorgeous views, fabulous interiors and a huge list of baby gear and child-friendly touches. In short, it is a nigh on perfect baby-Friendly bolthole by the sea!


The stylish interior is straight out of the pages of Living etc. (interiors magazine) with its clever mix of mid-century classic pieces and cool contemporary accessories, whilst the exterior has all the ingredients of Swallows and Amazons-style adventure with two acres of lawns hiding such delights as a huge wooden play fort and trampoline.

Both parents and their off-spring are apt to feel more than a little bit spoilt here. Grown-up luxuries come in the form of a free Wi-Fi, IPod dock, indulgent toiletries and White Company bed linens and towels, whilst little ones adore the brilliant selection of toys both indoors and out. Plus, there's the tiny coastal hamlets of West and East Portholland with their sandy bays, a 10-minute stroll through quiet country lanes. This is old-school Cornwall, all hedgerows, stone cottage hamlets, winding lanes and boat-strewn bays. That, combined with the house's magical gardens and luxuriously equipped interior, has promoted past guests to claim that they've felt as released after a week here as they would have having had a month's holiday elsewhere!


Accommodation Overview:

Parc Vean sleeps 10 and is best suited to groups of 4 adults and 6 children plus cots. Its four bedrooms comprise of an upstairs master double with super-king BB italia upholstered bed and en-suite shower room (approached via spiral staircase from child's room with optional stair gates) and a downstairs double, again en-suite(tub and shower over) with french painted antique double bed along with two ground floor children's bedrooms each sleeping a trio of kids in a set of bunks and a trundle a piece.Each of the latter rooms come with a full complement of high quality toys and games, including a fab puppet theatre whilst all four bedrooms have space a cot ( one wooden and two travel can be provided on request). The are two reception rooms, one a lounge perfect for relaxing with 2 comfy sofas, a fireplace, iPod dock, DVD player (with extensive library) and TV (not reception so only for use with DVD's) . The second reception is a handy dining room with Saarinen tulip marble dining table for 8 and piano should guests fancy a post dinner tinkle, The dining room links to the kitchen via a half wall and is well equipped with a blender, coffee maker, microwave, dishwasher, tumble dryer and washing machine, along with the usual gear. There is also a smaller dining table perfect for breakfast!
Outside, the 2-acre terraced garden has a handy decked terrace with dining area, BBQ and lovely views, plus steps down to a huge lawn area, ideal for ball games, with play fort, swings and boules court - a kids paradise. It should be noted that there are steep stone steps up to the house and the grounds are border by a stream, so toddlers should be supervised.

Share Tips & Advice Show Location Map Parc Vean nestles just above the pretty coastal hamlet of West Portholland, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on South Cornwall's scenic Roseland Peninsula. The village is just 10 minutes walk from the house and boasts a sandy bay and stunning coastline walks to Portloe and Porthluney Cove.


The picturesque fishing village of St Mawes is just a short drive away and has a cluster of interesting shops, a good deli, coffee bar, fresh fish van (before 10am) and the famous Tresanton Hotel (great for a special meal). There's also a castle and boat trips from the harbour. There's also a ferry over to Falmouth where you can visit the excellent Maritime Museum and Rick Stein's new restaurant. Alternatively, enjoy fish and chips at the Harbour Inn at nearby Mevagissey; or sample one of several excellent countryside pubs within a few miles.


Other nearby attractions include the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project with its toddler-friendly land-train, many pretty fishing villages, especially Portloe and Portscatho. For day trips further afield , try Dairyland, a former winner of the National Farm Attraction awards. Perfect for animal lovers it has an animal park, bottle feeding lambs, “pat a pet”, pony rides and an assortment of birds and animals. There is also an indoor and outdoor play area, museum of Cornish heritage, a nature trail and a Lamborghini Hay Ride. You can see milking first hand everyday in the best milking parlour you are ever likely to see – it has a domed roof with glitter ball and music!
