Ivy-clad 'Number 29' might only be five minutes walk from the centre of the Somerset market town of Yeovil but, thanks to its position in the heart of a conservation area and with gorgeous views over the pretty Victorian Gardens opposite, it feels very much like a country bolthole. It's heaven for new parents in need of a bit of rural rejuvenation but with the luxury of a choice of great restaurants within 5-10mins walk and a qualified nanny onsite and available for evening and morning lie-in babysitting, all at about a quarter of the price of a typical country house hotel stay.

'Number 29' has three king-size ensuite bedrooms all with room for a cot but the largest of the three, the Blue Room also has room for a campbed for a toddler and boasts a gorgeous bathroom with romantic double-ended bath. The guest lounge has huge dining table where owner Anglea serves up delicious home-made breakfasts of fresh local produce and similarly wholesome kids high teas - usually accompanied by crayons and colouring sheets! It also houses a microwave for parents to warm babies food and sterilise bottles. When not taking advantage of the babysitting service, parents often use their baby monitors in the dining room for evening meals (requested in advance) or takeaways.

For more glamorous nights out, Angela's a font of knowledge on the local restaurant scene having managed one of the best in the area and has negotiated a brilliant 3-courses with wine for £20 deal for her guests there. Her daughter Lucy is a newly qualified (Diploma in Cache Childcare) nanny and popular with parents and their off spring for her evening and morning lie-in babysitting service.

Please note there is an extra charge for cots and added toddler beds which can be selected from the options and extras form when booking.

There's very little need to use a car whilst staying at Number 29 thanks it is lovely setting in a conservation area with a beautiful park opposite, plus its just three minutes walk into Yeovil town Centre with its shops, excellent restaurants, cinema, bowling complex, banks and Post Office. Owner, Angela, is happy to provide afternoon tea trays to be taken to the park for picnics on dry and sunny days.

Other very local attractions are Ninesprings Country Park, Hamhill Country Park, Jungle Jungle Soft play Goldenstone Swimming Pool and the local mutiplex cinema.

Yeovil enjoys an ideal position midway between the North Devon and Dorset coastline with Lyme Regis and Weymouth both being only around 30 minutes away. For less sunny days, the wildlife park and indoor play centre at Cricket St. Thomas (approx.20-30mins), Tutankhamun Exhibition & shopping in Dorchester, Monkey World in Poole and the Fleet Air Museum (might be better for older ones) make for good days out.

We recently stayed at No.29 Bed and Breakfast in Yeovill with our 5 week old baby girl and had a fantastic weekend. Angela had thought of everything the room we stayed in had everything we could need for our little girl, breakfast was served at our convienece to fit in with baby's feeds and Angela sat with us during breakfast and cuddled our little girl so that we could enjoy our breakfast. A brilliant place to stay and we are hoping to return for a second visit in the summer.

A great stay! Nothing was too much trouble for owner, Angela, who is a brilliant cook (we recommend her dinners and breakfast was a fab way to start to each day), and wonderful hostess. Room was spacious and our 4-month old enjoyed splashing in the roll-top bath.

Owner Profile

I have worked in the Hospitality industry for over thirty years. Along the way I have visited many hotels, restaurants and B and B's.
I would have loved to have been a critic as I feel that not many of these places tick all of the boxes.
Which I believe to be a Warm Welcome, Clean Rooms, Good Food and Great Service
At Number 29 I have tried my best to achieve all of these these

I have lived here for nineteen years, worked full time and brought up three children alone.
Once my eldest daughter went to uni I followed my dream and converted the house into a three bedded Bed and Breakfast.
My daughter Lucy who still lives at home had been to college to get the Cache diploma in childcare. So, when I was asked whether I would like to go onto the Baby Friendly website I was overjoyed as I have a love of children and Lucys chosen career would come in handy for babysitting for families staying.
The joy for me is spoiling new parents as I know how difficult it can be not having family around and finding time for themselves as a couple.
I have met some great parents and some absolutely gorgeous babies and toddlers. Some of whom have already returned!!!

.

Parents choose Number 29 because I offer a full package whereby I have lovely en-suite bedrooms indivually decorated, most baby equipment, in house dinners, microwave, fridge, babysittings and most of all a very relaxed atmosphere.
Also, most big hotels that offer this service charge an arm and a leg. Number 29 is great value for a short break away without breaking the bank!!
Parents need to feel relaxed and I think we manage to achieve this here!!

First and foremost the B&B was a family home before it was a business.
I think children feel instantly at home when they arrive because of the toys and especially the rocking horse that my children used and abused when young
Nothing is too precious and children and parents do not have totip toe around worrying about noise and breakages.
I also cook simple home cooked food for toddlers teas
