Ivy-clad 'Number 29' might only be five minutes walk from the centre of the Somerset market town of Yeovil but, thanks to its position in the heart of a conservation area and with gorgeous views over the pretty Victorian Gardens opposite, it feels very much like a country bolthole. It's heaven for new parents in need of a bit of rural rejuvenation but with the luxury of a choice of great restaurants within 5-10mins walk and a qualified nanny onsite and available for evening and morning lie-in babysitting, all at about a quarter of the price of a typical country house hotel stay.
'Number 29' has three king-size ensuite bedrooms all with room for a cot but the largest of the three, the Blue Room also has room for a campbed for a toddler and boasts a gorgeous bathroom with romantic double-ended bath. The guest lounge has huge dining table where owner Anglea serves up delicious home-made breakfasts of fresh local produce and similarly wholesome kids high teas - usually accompanied by crayons and colouring sheets! It also houses a microwave for parents to warm babies food and sterilise bottles. When not taking advantage of the babysitting service, parents often use their baby monitors in the dining room for evening meals (requested in advance) or takeaways.
For more glamorous nights out, Angela's a font of knowledge on the local restaurant scene having managed one of the best in the area and has negotiated a brilliant 3-courses with wine for £20 deal for her guests there. Her daughter Lucy is a newly qualified (Diploma in Cache Childcare) nanny and popular with parents and their off spring for her evening and morning lie-in babysitting service.
There's very little need to use a car whilst staying at Number 29 thanks it is lovely setting in a conservation area with a beautiful park opposite, plus its just three minutes walk into Yeovil town Centre with its shops, excellent restaurants, cinema, bowling complex, banks and Post Office. Owner, Angela, is happy to provide afternoon tea trays to be taken to the park for picnics on dry and sunny days.
Other very local attractions are Ninesprings Country Park, Hamhill Country Park, Jungle Jungle Soft play Goldenstone Swimming Pool and the local mutiplex cinema.
Yeovil enjoys an ideal position midway between the North Devon and Dorset coastline with Lyme Regis and Weymouth both being only around 30 minutes away. For less sunny days, the wildlife park and indoor play centre at Cricket St. Thomas (approx.20-30mins), Tutankhamun Exhibition & shopping in Dorchester, Monkey World in Poole and the Fleet Air Museum (might be better for older ones) make for good days out.

Angela was great! Friendly, very helpful, full of great advice and recommendations, willing to bend over backwards for us. In short, everything an owner of a B&B should be!
Can't praise her highly enough, and would certainly use her again.
Oh, and in question 1, 'Experience' is spelt wrong!

Angela is extremely welcoming and we regretted not having booked a longer break. It was our first stay at a B&B since our daughter is born (she is 2.5 years) and we were delighted as everything ran so smoothly. Next time we'll stay three days and take the opportunity to enjoy the lay in service and to book a couple of treatments with the beauty therapist.

It is a breath of fresh air, especially in the current economic climate, to have a non-boutiquey, yet very friendly and comfortable B&B. It was wonderful to have a nanny around when we needed her and Angela's suggestions on food were great

Angela the proprietor was lovely and very accommodating. The accommodation is certainly very baby friendly but quite a bit of crockery in the dining room. Otherwise a lovely stay that was very enjoyed.

Really lovely B&B, Angela was fantastic, we loved the room, the breakfasts and the baby things in our room - our baby was only 6 weeks old, our first family holiday and it was easy!

Angela was lovely and welcoming. Made us feel at home. Nothing was too much trouble, even accomodating our 2 year old who likes to help out in the kitchen and generally take over! Would go back again. Bed and bath were superb!

Angela was a wonderful hostess and made us all feel at home. Lucy was great with our girls- babysitting and making banana splits! The nearby wildlife park at Cricket St. Thomas was a fab place to spend the day with a picnic- parents note it even had its own pub in the grounds!

I would highly recommend no.29. It was our first holiday with our 15 month old and Angela made us all extremely welcome. She clearly likes children and did so many things to make our stay easier - cooking simple teas for our little boy, allowing him to explore the house and garden (he particularly liked visiting the pet rabbit), making good recommendations for places to go, and continuously checking if there was anything we needed. Yeovil centre and all the shops and restaurants are just a few minutes walk away and there is a great play area for children in the town park as well as a soft play centre just a short drive away for rainy days. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious and lots of baby equipment provided including cot, highchair, baby feeding sets, changing mat, steriliser, microwave, fridge, baby bath and toys. There was even wipes and nappy sacks as well as baby bath products and rubber ducks.
Angela is a very friendly host, we both commented that she makes you feel like you have know her for years even though you have only just met. She is also a great cook and you certainly wouldn't go hungry with very substantial breakfasts she provides.
We enjoyed some nice trips out including to the coast at Weymouth and the countryside around was extremely pretty with lots of old towns and rural villages.
I can certainly understand why there are alot of repeat customers.

Before Elias was born we thought that was the end of indulgent weekends away 'til he was 18. Not so. We had a long weekend break with our 3 month old, every need was catered for and Angela proved to be the very definition of the Hostess with Mostess. It was a luxurious stress free first holiday. Highly recommended

I have worked in the Hospitality industry for over thirty years. Along the way I have visited many hotels, restaurants and B and B's. |
Parents choose Number 29 because I offer a full package whereby I have lovely en-suite bedrooms indivually decorated, most baby equipment, in house dinners, microwave, fridge, babysittings and most of all a very relaxed atmosphere.

First and foremost the B&B was a family home before it was a business.
