Maison Vetivert combines the best of both worlds being both an independent 5-bedroom villa with pool, and a village house with facilities on the doorstep including its friendly ex-pat British owners who are neighbours and on call for first hand advice on the area, pre-bookable aromatherapy massage and optional chef services - it’s impossible not to relax here!
This charming traditional village house is located in the heart of the sun-soaked Languedoc-Roussillon region of Southern France and has recently been treated to a stylish farmhouse-chic make-over by owners Andrea and and Mark who started the renovations, when their little one was just a few months old. Clearly parenthood gave the couple a keen eye on what it takes to enjoy a relaxing and baby-friendly holiday. There's a comprehensive list of baby gear and toys (see Fast Facts for full list), a fabulous meal service (full board from €25 per adult & €15 per child!) which can include those for babies and older children, and a brilliant pre-arrival shopping service covering both groceries and baby essentials such as formula, food jars, nappies and wipes etc, all ensures guests can travel light and begin relaxing from the moment they arrive.
The house itself comprises of five double rooms and three bathrooms, all of which have been tastefully modernized in a way that combines their original character with modern luxury. The second bedroom boasts a lovely balcony overlooking the village, which is perfect for morning coffees. Downstairs, there’s a spacious yet cosy central living room and a huge kitchen that lends itself to socialising around the large dining table.
The fully equipped kitchen leads to the wide terrace with additional alfresco dining area - perfect for social evening drinks once little ones are tucked up in bed upstairs.
Whilst the front of
the house opens onto the tranquil village, the rear has lovely
established gardens including a good-sized solar-heated saline pool, an
all-weather ‘play-den’ for mini guests, and a pergola, which provides a
handy shady retreat for little ones and for pool-side lunches al fresco.
Off road private parking is available, as is high speed Internet and satellite TV should guests feel the urge to plug in to the wider world!
PLEASE NOTE: Optional full board incl. glass of wine with dinner may be added at €25 per adult
per day & €15 per child per day. Add in the optional extras page of BFB booking request form.

Maison Vetivert is located in the tranquil village of Brezilhac which, apart from the daily boulangerie van visit, is rather sleepy. Although, there's a well-stocked supermarket within five minutes drive and, just 20 minutes away, are the bustling and picturesque market towns of Mirepoix and Limoux, whilst the sophisticated shopping, bistros and world-famous historic Cite in Carcassonne is a similar distance away.
Whilst the amazing walled Cite in Carcassonne is an absolute must-see for everyone, especially would-be knights and princesses who lap up the history, the lesser-known ‘plage’ area is also not to be missed during a summer break. This lake-side nature park offers a beach, water park, boating and zip-lining and is a lovely spot for a relaxing picnic after a stroll around the walled Cite. Alternatively, for a day by the sea, Narbonne with its water sports, beaches and marina is easily reachable in under an hour.
Andrea and Mark are fantastic sources of local information. With her foodie background, Andrea can always be relied upon to point guests in the right direction for one of the best local wine houses, whilst Mark’s love of the outdoors makes him a bit of an expert on local activities from biking, hiking and skiing to kite-surfing and white-water rafting. In the winter months only an hour’s drive away are several local ski stations.
Getting There: Carcasonne is the nearest airport being the just 20 minutes away, whilst Toulouse, Beziers, Perpignan and even Girona airports are also all easily accessible.
