Who says you have to give up boutique holidays when you have kids? Well not here! Le Sarrail is a cluster of three newly converted luxury houses that wouldn't look amiss on the pages of Wallpaper* and Elle Decoration in a setting that could inspire the most reluctant of artists. It’s the realisation of a dream for, Becky and Philip, the style-savvy parents who renovated them, but also the answer to the prayers of many families just like them. Along with the mid-century classic furniture pieces, luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets, WIFI and IPod docks, come a long list of nursery gear, a host of toys, and funky little log-cabin playhouse, not forgetting the stunning views from the heated outdoor pool, the elegant lines and chic loungers of which are very often accessorised with a collection of kiddie inflatables. Guest comments such as ''You have created such a perfect haven for children and grown ups alike that I'm not sure I want to tell anyone else about it - see you next year! (guests with 2 kids under 6yrs) mean that the summer months can often be booked up a year in advance. This is not only because the kids are so happy here but also partly due to the 'hotel style' services that are offered, the extra services list is endless, practically anything can be arranged; on-site wine-tasting, massage, flights over the Pyrenées even a visiting photographer to capture your families happy, tanned holiday moments!

Peacefully set amongst the vineyards of the Malpere region with stunning panoramic views from almost any where you stand, Le Sarail has a wonderfully tranquil and relaxed atmosphere which soon has guests settling into a laid back routine of long lazy breakfasts on the terrace, a splash in the pool with those stunning views, an afternoon BBQ punctuated by trips down to the trampoline and play house, followed by languid evenings watching the sun set whilst little ones potter around the gardens. The excellent meal delivery service means there's no need to even cook some nights. In fact, an aromatherapy massage followed by a delicious meal delivered to the house and its hard to imagine any where anyone would rather be! The log-burning stoves and DVD/CD players make for cosy evenings year-round after exploring the pretty local towns, including the world famous medieval castle 'la cité' of Carcassonne & many festivals (just 20 minutes away), or even skiing in the Pyrenean resorts, which are less than an hour away.

Maison Citron boasts three very good size bedrooms, sleeping a total of 6 people (plus cot). It can inter-connect at ground floor level with Maison Figue (3-bedrooms sleeping 5) and the divison between the two terraces folds back to create one huge house and terrace - ideal for larger groups or two families holidaying together. The ground floor is spacious and semi-open plan with a large fully equipped kitchen, dining area with table seating six and a comfortable lounge area with wood burning stove. Two large doors open directly onto the covered terrace which overlooks the gardens and takes in the view of the Pyrenees. Upstairs is a large master bedroom with french windows opening to reveal the beautiful view and ensuite with wet room style shower. There is a spacious twin bedroom, again with french windows, a third bedroom sleeping two in bunkbeds and a large bright family bathroom with tub. The terrace is furnished with a large table & chairs seating 6, comfortable loungers and gas BBQ. Towels including pool towels plus a hairdryer also provided.

Despite the tranquil location and seemingly endless beautiful rural views, Le Sarail is actually only a few minutes’ drive from the pretty medieval village of Montréal, which has a useful array of facilities including bakery, a butcher, pharmacy, post office, a bank with cash machine and a supermarket, which is also open on Sunday mornings. There is also a typical cafe and restaurant, kiddies park, two tennis courts and fishing lake. Just 20minutes away is the bustling fortified town of Carcassonne with its great selection of markets, pavement cafés, shops & restaurants and its UNESCO-protected 'Cité', this 12th century castle has undergone full restoration and is absolutely breath-taking. There is plenty to see inside the rampart walls, whether it be watching knights jousting, theatrical plays or musical concerts in the amphitheatre, visiting the museum or just soaking up the atmosphere in one of the many street cafés and restaurants.

If you can bear to tear yourself away from Le Sarrail's lovely pool and tranquil setting for longer, there is so much to discover nearby; it's less than an hour from both the beautiful wide sandy beaches of the Mediterranean and Pyrenean ski slopes. Lake Cavayère with it's sandy beach and little boats is only 20 minutes and right next door for the more active is Acro Branch (for kids & adults) where you literally swing from the trees. Forty minutes drive will find you in the foothills of the Pyrenées, breaktaking gorges, canoeing, rafting, climbing, hiking, visit the 'Wolf Park', Dinosaur Museum or just take in the scenery the many stunning mountain towns & villages. Alternatively, why not hire a little boat or cycle along the beautiful canal du midi, which is 10 minutes from Le Sarrail.

Wonderful relaxing holiday. Unbelievable countryside and views. Supplied everything we could possibly require without even needing to ask (even including age appropriate toys and books for our 2 year old). Fantastic log cabin for children to play in as well as trampoline, swings and lovely pool. Very tastefully furnished houses with great attention to detail. Despite the fact that there were 3 other families staying, we felt that we had the whole of Le Sarrail to ourselves. Overall Rating: Outstanding!

"...here’s a place with genuine class... an oasis of retro-chic style....the luxuries are all modern — crisp Egyptian-cotton sheets, iPod docks, gas barbecues and all. There’s a good shared pool, a huge open barn for entertaining and a log cabin for the kids to play in, all with a view over vineyards to the Pyrenees. It’s where we’re heading this summer." Arriving at Le Sarrail is the nearest I have come to the feeling of staying in a boutique hotel since I had children and stopped hotel holidays! The house is immaculately designed and decorated, the views beautiful, the children's facilities plentiful and excellent. It's a great location for exploring Languedoc-Roussillon with lots of lovely toewns and villages nearby to explore. What makes this a really special place is the lovely familly who own Le Sarrail who have created a wonderful atmosphere and make you feel so welcome. I thoroughly recommend it - we will definitely be going back!

La Sarrail was perfect. It had everything we wanted, but not too much that we felt we were paying for things we didn't need. Would highly recommend it and definitely return.

We had a fantastic, relaxed holiday here. The owners were helpful but unobtrusive and the facilities were high quality and well thought through. Good kitchen equipment, comfortable beds, plenty of fluffy towels and great kiddy play equipment. Its a great area to explore also. Highly recommended.
