Le Manoir de Longeveau’s fantastic combination of pretty gîte
accommodation, beautiful setting and brilliant facilities, including a
crèche, golf course, tennis courts, club house bar and bistro make it a real
find and ideal for families with young children.
Within hours of
arriving it’s easy to see why so many fellow guests return year after
year – a particularly tempting proposition when enjoying a relaxing
drink on the bar’s sunny terrace and soaking up the beautiful scenery!
The
16th century former Cognac estate’s elegant yet relaxed and friendly
ambience is helped along by the fact that guests can be as
sociable and/or as active as they wish. Some simply use the well
equipped and pretty gites as a base and spend days exploring the area
or lounging by the communal pool, whilst others focus on relaxing on
site and make the most of the golf, tennis, bar, bistro and creche
facilities, perhaps venturing into lovely Aubeterre (just a few minutes
drive) a few times to dine out in the pretty square.
The professionally staffed crèche, which runs from late May until
late September, is a real boost to relaxation. It operates just a few
half days per week making it ideal for parents who want to enjoy
spending time with their little ones, but also relish a few hours to
read, lounge by the pool or potter around the pretty local towns
without having to worry about keeping the off spring amused. There's
golf and tennis tuition available making a stay here the perfect
opportunity to hone a skill or try a new hobby.
The pretty gîtes sleep from two to eight and are nestled in
small clusters scattered amongst the 60 acres of beautiful grounds,
either close to the Manoir itself or a few minutes’ walk away at the
hamlet of Puygironde, which overlooks Longeveau and the golf course.
All have been recently renovated to a high standard, mainly from old
farm buildings and each has charming original features including old
beams, exposed stonework and timber or clay tile floors. Most have
open-plan living areas with well-equipped kitchens, although there are
no dishwashers and laundry facilities are in a well-equipped communal
laundry room. Each has a private outdoor seating area and BBQs, which
are useful for quiet nights ‘at home’, after busy days and when not
making the most of the bar’s terrace for meals and drinks, or communal
BBQ nights.
Accommodation Overview - Le Chai
Le Chai has been renovated from an old stone farm building at the back of the Manoir garden. The property benefits from the morning sun at the front and the afternoon / evening sun at the back. It features many of the original beams and stonework, with great views of the golf course and open countryside. This spacious cottage comprises an open plan kitchen / dining / living area at ground level, with a w.c. and shower room. An oak staircase leads up to a mezzanine double (or twin) which overlooks the living space. There is a small terrace at the front and one at the rear, with steps leading down to the garden which in turn backs onto the golf course.
Please Note: In order to satisfy local tax laws, Longeveau charges a additional £12 per adult and £5 per child (over 5s only) fee to cover general facilities. Other additional costs include: £10 per bed for linen, £6 per towel, £15 per cot with linen and £30 to hire additional beds, if required and space permitting.

Longeveau is situated on the border between the Charente and the Dordogne, relatively close to Bordeaux and the unspoilt beaches of the Atlantic coast as well as the green Perigord region to the East. The River Dronne (3kms) provides many opportunities for fishing and canoeing.
Don’t miss a trip to nearby Aubeterre (5kms), which was recently voted one of France’s prettiest towns and has river swimming from a sandy beach, plus a popular puppet theatre - great fun for adults and children alike! Bordeaux, St. Emilion and Cognac are all within easy reach and famous for their wines and spirits.
There are some very good and well priced restaurants within a few miles of Longeveau, most are detailed in the guest folder in each gîte and the Manoir’s staff are always happy to make reservations for guests. For shopping and grocery supplies, St Severin is the nearest village (5 mins by car) and boasts a small range of shops including a boulangerie, butchers and small supermarket. There are also the markets in Chalais and RIberac (20mins) and the more sophisticated shopping in the large and historic towns of Augouleme and Perigeux, both only around 40mins away.
The very popular La Palmyra Zoo, Aqualand Waterpark and Futurescope are all within 1.5 – 2 hrs drive.
