Set just one street back from the beach in a conservation area, Hoy Cottage is a truly exceptional architect-designed bolthole with a brilliant combination of high spec interiors and one of the most comprehensive lists of baby and toddler gear, we've seen; plus a fantastically convenient location just 80 minutes by train and 60miles by road from central London.
Inside, the open plan layout and neutral colour palette provides light, spacious and luxurious accommodation for up to six people, plus babies (two cots and lots of gear provided see below). Features such as the bathroom steam room, IPod Docks, flatscreen LCD TVs, full Sky+, Nespresso coffee machine (capsules provided), mood lighting and multi-zone digital music system, with digital music library, will ensure parents feel indulged. Whilst, mini guests will enjoy the freedom of being able to roam safely throughout the ground floor, since it is open-plan and on one level, with wide patio doors to the garden; along with the toys, games, books and DVDs provided for them. Parents can relax as their child can be in sight at all times, and gadget junkies will adore the state-of-the-art Phillips Pronto, which controls the lighting, blinds, sky light, home entertainment system and even the water feature! Interior design fans will admire the use of comfortable designer furniture and sophisticated fixtures and fittings including BB Italia beds, Corian bathroom fixtures and CP Hart taps and funky cubist garden with stylish outdoor furnishings. In fact, most guests would be happy to spend at least a weekend not venturing beyond the front door, but the many temptations of Whitstable, from its beaches and sunsets to its eclectic mix of cool art galleries, boutiques and bistros with traditional seaside shops and eateries are bound to draw them out eventually!
Accommodation Overview:
The cottage is approached via a short set of wide stone steps (the owners have twins and report its easily manageable even with a double buggy!) from where guests enter into the large, light open-plan space that it the ground level. Set all on one level, the area is stylishly furnished with all mod-cons split into a lounge zone, dining area and contemporary kitchen which is fully equipped including dishwasher, microwave and washer dryer etc. Wide French doors and a decked terrace means the outside/inside space flows into each other with a funky dining set and BBQ inviting eating al fresco. o
The first floor is home to a double bedroom and a single with pull-out trundle, along with the bathroom which boasts a luxurious steam room-style shower and separate large bath.
Bedroom 3 is a loft room on the second floor with two full sized single beds and air conditioning.

Truly unique in the South East, Whitstable manages to deliver a “cool” and contemporary atmosphere within a characterful and eccentric coastal setting. Just 60 miles east of London (80mins by direct train from Victoria), and 6 miles north of the Cathedral city of Canterbury, Whitstable is most famous for it’s oysters but recent years has seen its contemporary arts scene and trendy restaurants / pubs gather just as much attention. Regardless of whether its a glorious sunny day or crispy, dry winter one, Whitstable's miles of beaches, pretty weatherboard cottages, fabulous sunsets and cosmopolitan atmosphere, make it hard to beat!
Particularly recommended for familes are the Hotel Continental, Zizzi, summer BBQs at the Duke of Cumberland, the Film Cafe with its kids play corner, and, last but by no means least, sunset fish and chips on beachside benches! If you've had the foresight to bring babysitters/grandparents with you, don't forget to pre-book a meal at the Sportsman, Michelin star winning gastro-pub in nearby Seasalter.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hoy Cottage. Excellent location, just a couple of minutes walk to either the beach or the town. It's super child friendly, with a few grown-up treats thrown in too (steam room!) We would definitely recommened both Hoy Cottage and Whitstable to anyone.

The ground floor is this property's redeeming feature. Our little boy could see us no matter where we were - lounge area, kitchen area, garden area - and as a result was a very happy chappy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hoy Cottage; the quality of the accommodation was fantastic and we really enjoyed the interior design. Everything seems to have been thought about and there wasn't anything missing. Both parents and baby felt instantly at home and had a very relaxing break!

it was a lovely property and great location - the lighting/control panels were rather complicated but overall a great place to bring children. The girls ( 1 and 2) loved the toys and access to the garden.

Positives: Excellent location in the heart of Whitstable. Friendly and helpful owner. Negatives: It is spread over 3 floors making it difficult to deal with 2 small toddlers, also front access to the property has very steep stairs so we had to carry the pram out and up the stairs fisrt and then the 2 babies one by one, not ideal in my view.

Fantastic location and smart accommodation. Nice playground 2 minutes walk behind property and worth staying just to experience Windy Stores at the end of the street. The integrated IT may take a little getting used to.

A stylish modern home in an excellent location with a great open plan layout downstairs. The array of gadgets are interesting but probably make some simple tasks (like operating the lights) unnecessarily complicated. We went in March and were mostly lucky with the weather. I imagine it would be lovely in the summer.

The cottage was fabulous top to bottom and I defy anyone to come up with an eventuality/scenario with respects children not contemplated. Half the stuff we brought from London was superfluous. The same is true with respects adults - the entertainment/media system is the stuff men's dreams are made of. Everyone's been catered to. Location is second to none.
