Garnsgate Hall in Lincolnshire is a charming child-friendly B&B/farm stay offering characterful rooms, hearty and wholesome farmhouse breakfasts, a warm welcome and a parent-friendly approach with kids suppers and delicious optional meals for grown ups when little ones are tucked up safely in bed.
Now fully licensed parents can enjoy a relaxing glass of wine in the beautiful garden or cosied up next to the fire.
One the one hand the gorgeous grade
II listed Georgian manor house is the epitome of elegance from the fine china
to four poster beds to the luxury AMG Mercedes available for hire. On the
other, it’s a rare breeds small holding, top quality farm shop and super baby
friendly retreat.
Caroline and Brenden moved to Garnsgate Hall to start a family away from the hurly burly of modern living, with space for their dogs and a few chickens. Now with two young children and a menagerie of animals the couple are following in their grandparents farming footsteps while providing a luxury B&B with the warmest family welcome.
Each of the three bedrooms are tasteful and relaxing,
with individual features including four poster beds, antique furnishings, wood
panelled walls and cosy window seats. All the rooms also have Freeview TV, free
wi fi on request, fluffy towels and robes plus a small fridge for keeping baby
food or milk. With first-hand knowledge of the hazards and hassles of
travelling with babies and toddlers, the owners will also ‘baby proof’ the
room, arrange a handy pack of essentials and provide a host of helpful
equipment from bottle steriliser and high chairs to a pushchair and play pen.
When staying at Garnsgate Hall, guests are welcome
to make use of the elegant Morning Room, with a wood burning stove lit on
chilly evenings to warm up and relax after a day out and about. The Hall is
also set in an enclosed 1-acre garden, with play equipment and ride-ons for
toddlers upwards but it’s usually the animals who steal the show. From
baby chicks and ducks to the Shetland pony Heidi, house puss-cat Petal and
Princess the Berkshire pig with her litter of piglets, there are plenty of
little friends waiting to say hello!
With its own farm shop of home reared products, it’s no surprise the food is excellent. From the hearty breakfasts, with eggs often collected by mini guests' own fair little hands, to roast dinners, BBQ menus, picnics and packed lunches all on offer by arrangement.

Owner Profile
I’m Caroline and I do the day to day running of the Bed & Breakfast along with my husband Brendan who also works full time in London. Our family consists of us, our two children (Nathan 3 and Ciaran 16 months - Nov 11), two dogs, a cat, chickens, ducks, pigs, a rabbit, fish and a pony. My eldest loves to help with the pigs, chickens and ducks helping to feed them and shut them up at night he rounds them all up and shoos them to bed and my youngest loves the stroking Petal our cat and sitting on Heidi our Shetland pony. Both are typical boys and into anything with wheels! I have a background in Biology and have been into animals since I was little even keeping “pet” worms as young as three, I also enjoy reading, music and used to fly gliders. Brendan’s background is in finance and working in the City he loves to be able to escape to the peace and tranquillity of our rural surrounds with the animals the perfect antidote to a stressful working week. Brendan’s other passion is cars and he hopes to expand our luxury car hire side of the business with more additions soon.

We moved from Reading in 2006 to find a place to start a family where we had the space for a smallholding where the air is fresher and the pace is slower and we just love the area; its like stepping back in time where small country shops, butchers and grocers are still found and every town holds a weekly market. The Fens were once reclaimed from the sea and the flat landscape stretches to the horizon giving an appearance of an almost endless sky above vast fields; with some families still farming the same land their forefathers did. Yet in contrast the cities of Peterborough, Ely, Stamford and Cambridge are all within easy reach with modern shopping centres set amongst beautiful historic buildings and majestic Cathedrals. We moved to Garnsgate Hall in 2010 when Ciaran was just four months old having put the offer in on the house on the way to the hospital to give birth. As soon as we saw the place we fell in love with it and even the quirky chimney stacks and bulging walls couldn’t put us off; the Grade II* listed manor house is over 300 years old and has connections with Oliver Cromwell and Viscount Allenby. Nearly derelict 20 years ago the hall has been restored to make a wonderful family home with plenty of space for our children to grow and play.

Outside our own children love the space to burn off all that excess energy with over an acre of garden encompassing a children's play area with climbing frames and sandpit as well as a pony paddock, chicken coop and stables where often one of our mother pigs is to be found with a litter of rare breed piglets there is always something for little ones to see or do, whilst parents can relax and keep watch from the patio; enjoying the peaceful surroundings. In summer we enjoy BBQs with our own sausages and burgers a firm favourite with our children and their friends and hopefully your children too.
