Newly refurbished (2008) in chic seaside style this former village library is now an idyllic family retreat for eight (plus cots). It's elegant new look combines stylish interiors and indulgent touches like White Company linens and toiletries, with natural luxuries like waking up to seaviews through the roof light windows and discovering the untouched beauty of 'Sugar Sands' beach, hidden down a lane behind the house.
Whilst parents enjoy discovering the free-standing bath and flatscreen TVs, mini guests will adore the huge old seaman's chest filled with toys, books and games, along with the freedom to roam in the pretty, safely enclosed, gardens which hide a picnic and sand play table just for them and BBQ for adults.
The accommodation comprises of a lovely spacious lounge, formerly the village reading room , it has been transformed into a luxurious haven of comfort with cosy soft furnishings, log burner, handy TV with DVD/CD player (children's DVD's included) and of course a large bookcase with a range of literature including several children's book, which prove perfect for bedtime stories. However, whilst parents may be left marvelling the decor, mini guest's favourite feature of the room is sure to be the old seaman's chest which is packed full of children’s toys and games. The lounge is also home to large oak dining table which seats 8 with room and ability to extend. The pretty and well equipped kitchen is a spacious and bright room with a feature oak beamed ceiling, dishwasher, larger fridge, under bench freezer, washer/dryer,Smeg range cooker, granite/solid wood worktops and Belfast sink and a casual dining area with breakfast table and 4 chairs. There are 4 bedrooms in total 3 double and 1 twin. Bedroom 1 is a New England chic, master suite with king sized bed, dressed in white company linens and a romantic en-suite with double shower and roll top free-standing bath. The 2nd bedroom is a large twin, perfect for mini guests, styled once again with white company linens and Hampton style beds it has lovely views over the side garden. Bedrooms 3 in a further king with a cream iron bedstead and original Victorian fireplace, whilst finally bedroom 4 is another king with a seaside feel and its own en-suite with large shower- a great option for travelling grandparents who want a sense of privacy. Outside there is a lovely, large lawned garden perfect for little ones to run around in and its picnic tables make a great spot for alfresco dining in the summer months.

Justifiably designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Northumberland coast is crammed full of huge swathes of wide sandy beaches, pretty harbour villages and breathtaking coastal walks with atmospheric salty dog pubs and tea rooms along the way. It's the perfect spot for seal and puffin spotting with boat trips around the Farne Islands from Seahouses. There are tonnes of historic attractions to with castles galore from beachside Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh, and every Harry Potter fanatic's favourit, Alnwick, which was used as a location for scenes in the films. Nearby Alnwick Gardens is always hugely popular with little ones thanks to its enchanting treehouse restaurant, which serves surprisingly good food (order before 6.30m for excellent value early supper), run-through fountains and sit-on tractors – just be sure to take a change of clothes!

With absolutely every possible thing you might need provided, including a raft of baby items, some requested, many others just there, and fabulous furnishings, this was luxury comfort. Thank you to the Slaters for providing us with such an idyllic bolthole that was indeed very baby friendly!
