This freshly refurbished 2-bedroom cottage is one of five pretty barn conversions at Fron Fawr, scenically set just a few miles inland from the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast. The cottages are owned and managed by Dewi and Jacqui Davies who also own BFB favourite, Clydey Cottages a few miles down the road. Guests here are welcome to use all the facilities of Clydey, including the daily animal feeding sessions, indoor pool and playroom, but enjoy Fron Fawr's more private setting. There are only five cottages at Fron Fawr and, since each has its own decent size garden, it can feel like the on-site hot tub and children's play area are there exclusively for your use.
Accommodation Overview
Aneirin is a recently upgraded 2-bedroom cottage with fantastic views across the hills and
fields of North Pembrokeshire, with its own private parking and
entrance.
Upstairs, there are two large bedrooms, each with enough space to accommodate a cot or toddler z-bed. The master bedroom has a superking bed (convertible into twin beds on request), an en-suite bathroom with power shower over the bath, and LCD flat screen TV with integral DVD player. The second bedroom can also have either a superking bed or twin single beds and has its own en-suite toilet.
Downstairs there is an open plan, newly refurbished fitted kitchen with washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher, leading into the dining room which will seat up to 6 people. Off the hallway is the downstairs shower room with toilet and the spacious double aspect living room with real flame gas fire, large contemporary sofas and patio doors opening out onto the enclosed private patio and lawned garden with garden furniture and BBQ. There are stunning views across the North Pembrokeshire countryside from the garden and access into the surrounding fields and woodlands of Fron Fawr. Aneirin Cottage has full SKY TV inc. The cottages are nestled in 48-acres of shared grounds around 5 miles from teh Pembrokeshire coast and Cardigan Bay, which is regarded in the area as prime dolphin spotting territory!
The Nag's Head in Abercych (2.5miles away) has a great reputation for good food and ale, as well as having a lovely outdoor play area for kids. Newcastle Emlyn which has a good selection of shops, banks, bistros, cafes, delis and a beauty salon offering a range of treatments is around five miles from the cottages,
Some of the region's best restaurants are also fairly close to the cottages including Ludo's in Newcastle Emlyn, run by the former BBC Masterchef Professionals finalist, The Harbourmaster at Aberaeron, Llys Meddyg in nearby Newport, and the Penrhiwllan gastro-pub. All are all well worth arranging babysitting for.
A little further afield at around 45mins drive, Folly Farm is a brilliant wet weather day out thanks to its petting farm, tractor tours, indoor Victorian fun fair, soft play and huge adventure play zone, most of which are under cover.

Owner Profile
Welcome, croeso, to our home – Clydey Cottages Pembrokeshire. We, The Davies Family, are Dewi, Jacqui, and our three children Tomos (8yrs), Dafydd (6yrs) and Catrin (2yrs). We very much look forward to welcoming you to Clydey Cottages Pembrokeshire in the near future. |
“Life has certainly taken on a new meaning” says Dewi. “It’s about living in the here and now, not saving for retirement and yearning for the day when you can do what you want without the constraints of City work and life. We’ve worked hard over the last 6 years in building up the business and creating a special place that we ourselves would want to stay on holiday.”
The ‘icing on the cake’ came in 2009, when Clydey Cottages won two awards in the Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards 2009 – Best Marketing Campaign and Best Self-Catering Accommodation. Since then they have won Best Place To Stay in Wales 2010, followed by Best Place To Stay Pembroekshire for 2011, Tripadvisor also presented them with a very rare Excellence Award in June 2011. The couple are obviously delighted at being rewarded for their hard work :- “We’re passionate about what we do – making sure that everyone who comes to Clydey Cottages, enjoys it so much that they also want a little piece of our dream – even if it’s only for a week or two.”
“Seeing our children grow up with carefree freedom, plenty of space and outdoor life is confirmation that we definitely made the right decision – if we need confirmation that is. I can honestly say, there is nothing, absolutely nothing that I miss about our previous life.” says Jacqui dreamily as she sits on the bench outside the Farmhouse, listening to the birdsong and watching her young family run through the wild flower meadow outside – idyllic indeed.

From the moment children arrive, they look forward to days full of fun, frolics and fantastic memories. In the morning, children can join the 'Clydey Young Farmers Club' and help to feed the resident Kune Kune pigs - Iggle and Piggle; the sheep with their lambs; Shetland ponies; Noah the donkey; Zig & Zag the Pygmy Goats and the chickens - not forgetting to collect the freshly laid eggs and take them back to Mum and Dad for breakfast.
