Outside there is a 1.2 acre garden which is totally private with lovely wooden furniture, a BBQ, large trampoline, football posts, small orchard with a rope swing and rope ladder, and many other delightful features.
When venturing out, there’s plenty of the doorstep. Harlyn Bay is under ten minutes’ walk, although the owner does offer a parking pass to guests should they find it easier to whizz down in the car (a minutes’ drive) with all the beach bits. Active families can visit the local surf school and try their luck at surfing, paddle boarding or even kayaking. Despite it’s rural location the house is a short walk from the local village of St Merryn which has a great selection of shops, restaurants and pubs. There’s even an award winning fish and chip shop for a traditional seaside supper. If you want more choice, a multitude of restaurants can be found in Padstow which is just a few miles away.
Rain needn’t mar a stay at Trelawney as there are plenty of indoor attractions within easy reach including the Eden project with its toddler-friendly land train, or Crealy Adventure Park which has a petting farm and a play zone specifically aimed at under 5s. Activities from golf and horse-riding to sea fishing, kayaking and kite-surfing can also be arranged nearby. For a special night out, be sure to get organised and pre-book babysitting and a table at one of the many fabulous restaurants nearby. Highly recommended are Rick Stein's St. Petroc's, Jamie Oliver's Fifteen, Michelin-Starred St Ervan Manor or, Good Food Guide Restaurant of the year, 'No.6' in Padstow.
