Nestled in the courtyard of a pretty cottage B&B, Reeves Barn is a luxurious bolthole for a couple with a baby and toddler seeking a sophisticated rural retreat or a base from which to visit the fantastic Longleat Safari park and Postman Pat Village just a few minutes drive away.
Arriving at the studio barn, guests sweep under the huge branches of an ancient willow tree and instantly feel they have stumbled on somewhere special. The barn's owner and artist Barbette, is generally on hand offering a warm welcome with tea and cakes or, if its later in the evening, chilled Prosecco and canapes, allowing parents to relax into their break whilst mini guests uncover the small collection of toys and books provided for them. If arrangements have been made, Babette can also have a delicious 3-course meal ready for the first evening or perhaps after a long day meeting four-legged friends at Longleat. The indulgence doesn't stop there as Babette delivers a daily breakfast hamper and ensures the studio's wet room is fully stocked with luxurious Cowshed toiletries. In fact, with a family-friendly pub just down the road serving decent lunches, there's no need to self cater at all but, should the mood take them, guests will find a small and perfectly formed kitchenette with single ring hob, microwave, fridge and sink, hidden within a clever cupboard in the lounge.
Babette's talents as an artist and evident not just in the painting scattered around the studio, but also in the restful palette of cool greys and warm yellows used in the interiors, along with the homely but elegant mix of antique and contemporary furnishings. She is just as talented as a host, discretely delivering daily breakfast hampers and 3-course meals, but also on hand for tips and advice on the local area making the overall experience of a stay at Reeves Barn as something more akin to that of a sophisticated yet family-friendly suite than a self catering studio.
