The latest offering from Martinhal (creators of the ever popular Martinhal Sagres) offers an expert take on family-friendly luxury in the heart of Lisbon city centre.
Taking an impressive 19th century building they have thoughtfully renovated it to create an elegant yet contemporary space. There’s a variety of accommodation options from studios to one and two bedroom apartments suiting families of all sizes. Each is finished with stylish interiors, well equipped kitchens and spacious bathrooms. The onsite M bar is a relaxed family cafe serving refreshing drinks and light snacks proving an ideal place for refuelling after a busy day exploring. Families can also choose to take advantage of the in room dining options if they fancy making the most of their own space.
Sounding good so far? The best is yet to come...there's even onsite childcare! That’s right, on those days when little legs are in need of a break or you want a romantic night out Martinhal Chiado has you covered. Catering for children aged 6 months to early teens this custom designed kids club is engaging and entertaining for all ages. Our favourite part; the well-conceived ‘pyjama club’ offers evening care for little ones enabling parents a chance to experience Lisbon’s buzzing nightlife. They also offer baby-sitting should guests prefer little ones be looked after in their room (please see the ‘fast fact’ tab for more information). It’s city break heaven for families looking for a cultural family getaway with a spot fo romance.

Lisbon is very much in vogue right now and rightly so. The beautiful old town, cobbled stone pavements, bustling cafes, excellent museums, restaurants and buzzing atmosphere make it the perfect place for a charming city break.
The local Chiado area is full of bustling cafes and restaurants and the famous market Mercado da Ribeira which is a must visit is just 5 minutes from the hotel. There are some great bars locally and also in the equally trendy area of Cais de Sodre which are great for romantic nights out.
Culture vultures can choose from multiple museums and galleries including the Berardo Museum which houses a world class collection of modern art or the exceptional Design Museum.
Children are bound to fall in love with Lisbon. Let them see the city aboard one of the traditional trams or why not take a tuk-tuk ride to save little legs getting too tired. There’s also a wealth of beautiful gardens, parks and play areas in the city which are great picnic spots.
The Lisbon Oceanarium in the new town is a must see. This impressive aquarium was designed by Amrican Architect, Peter Chermeyeff and is bound to be a hit with adults and children alike.
The great thing about Lisbon and Martinhal Chiado is you have the vibrant buzz of city living on your doorstep but are just a short drive (approx. 30 minutes) from a range of great beaches enabling you to mix up your stay a bit. The coast is also easily accessible via train. Families could even do a mult-destination stay thanks to Martinhal Cascais which recently opened on the Lisbon coast.
