Escallonia Cottage is the perfect combination of romantic cottage exterior with stylish contemporary family interior. Outside, its pretty stone walls, wooden gables and sunny garden almost exactly match a typical cottage fantasy whilst its interior will satisfy the most style-savvy of urban families thanks to its clever combination of original features, tasteful fixtures and fittings and fun pops of colour.
Its location offers the best of both worlds too with a sleepy and idyllic hamlet setting, just 15 minutes walk from a wide sandy beach and vintage cream tea shop, but with surfer-chic Bude and its bars and bistros, just a few minutes by car or less than half an hour on foot. Plus there's a cosy family-friendly pub offering famously good Sunday lunches, kids menus and weekly live music on the doorstep!
Owner Karen Allen, also owns nearby cottages The Cob and Red Barn, and their eye for top quality fixtures and bright contemporary interiors is evident at all three cottages, but Escallonia really ticks all the boxes with romance in the form of a log burner and a clawfoot bath, kid-friendly touches with toys, books, DVDs and nursery kit and luxury in the form of crisp, cool Egyptian cotton bed linens, REN toiletries and all mod cons.
After a few days of wearing out little legs with coastal path and beach adventure and lazy evenings in front of the log burner or barbecues on the terrace, there's little doubt that most families will find it more than a little hard to drag themselves away from this picture perfect Cornwall cottage!
Escallonia Cottage sleeps 4 plus cots in two bedrooms comprising a king-sized double with ensuite 'rainforest' shower room and a pretty twin with use of the family bathroom and its romantic claw-foot bath. Downstairs, there's a spacious lounge with two sofas, flat-screen TV, DVD player, IPod dock, Wi-Fi and wood burner for romantic evenings with a glass of wine when the little ones are tucked up in bed. The well-equipped kitchen comes with all-mod cons including dishwasher, microwave, washer dryer and usual kitchen kit. Outside, the cottage has a small furnished garden to the front which is safely enclosed and a bit of a suntrap but protected by the pretty parasol. A barbecue us provided for summer evenings at 'home'.
