Casa es Moli is a beautiful converted farmhouse combining original Spanish finca charm with modern style and facilities. The heart of this 4-bedroom house is its beautiful courtyard in which the ancient mill tower still stands alongside its sparkling private pool, which can be fenced for safety, on request. The spacious grounds are also safely enclosed with a gated entrance dividing its gravel drive from its quiet country road setting, just a few minutes drive from the pretty market-town of Campos and the lovely white sand bays of Es Trenc, Sa Rapita and Ses Cevetes, which are reputedly some of the best beaches on the island.
Inside, the villa benefits from two sets of two bedrooms and three bathrooms, split over two floors, making it ideal for multiple family groups. The air-conditioning throughout, which can be turned from cooling to heating and the lovely log burner in its open-plan living area, makes its a comfortable retreat year-round but especially in summer when the ground-floor living space can be opened onto its spacious terrace thanks to safety glass bi-fold doors.
The rustic character of the house is evident in the high vaulted, open-beamed ceilings, pretty tiled floors and exposed stone walls, whilst the antique table football game, courtyard basketball net and bubble jets in the pool add an element of fun. Mini guests will love the second lounge which has comfortable seating, a TV with DVD, a table for crafts and drawing and an abundance of toys and games, making it an excellent retreat from the midday sun. Grown ups will relish in the extensive shaded dining terrace with BBQ or relaxing on a lounger by the pool.
Parent-friendly touches come in the form of on call English speaking babysitters and doctors, a long-list of baby and toddler-friendly gear (see Fast Facts), home-made freezer meals on request and optional daily maid and chef services, which can vary from one special celebration meal to three meals a day.
The house is set on a quiet country lane and accessed via a gravel drive alongside the safely enclosed front garden, which is planted with greenery and fruit trees. The entrance hall leads through the spacious open-plan living area through bi-fold safety glass doors onto the dining terrace, pool and courtyard with the original mill tower.
Inside, the open-plan lounge with log burner, leads to the well-equipped kitchen complete with electric oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave and utility area with washing machine. The second lounge is often used as a TV/playroom thanks to its TV with DVD and abundance of toys and games. Leading from this lounge are two ground floor bedrooms comprising a double with ensuite shower room, space for a cot and views over the courtyard, and a twin bedroom. There's also a bathroom with shower, WC, basin and bidet. There is no bath but a baby bath is provided.
Upstairs, there are a further twin and double, with fitted wardrobes and views over the front garden, and a family bathroom.
Outside, the pool has wide steps for access and can be fenced on request. There's a courtyard with basketball net, small lawned area and an extensive dining terrace with table for 8 and BBQ.
The villa is set on a quiet country lane that leads to the market town of Campos, but is only used by the odd passing car. Despite its tranquil setting there are several lovely beaches within a few minutes drive including Ses Cevetes, Sa Rapita and Es Trenc, which is reputedly the best beach on the entire island and boasts 4km of white sands, backed by dunes and hardly a hotel in sight. However, families often find Cala Santanyi (10kms) more convenient as visitors can park close to the beach, easily hire beds and sun umbrellas, and there are family-friendly restaurants. The town itself is also popular due to its combination of charm and traditional architecture with interior design boutiques and international restaurants. The twice weekly markets in the town square has hand crafted jewellery, flower, fresh local produce and leather goods stalls. Arrive early and people watch from one of the many cafes or restaurants lining the square.
Alternatively, stay at little closer to home and hire bikes (trailers and child seats available) and cycle to the nearby beaches and villages - the perfect way to burn off some of holidays over indulgences.
Getting There: The villa is just 25minutes drive from Palma Airport, serviced by low-cost airlines from most of the UK's airports. BFB finds that www.skyscanner.net is the most user-friendly flight finder.
Car hire is highly recommended.
