This beautiful barn conversion in the Lot region of South
West France is BFB through and through. Since falling in love with the place,
the owners of Beauclerc have made it their mission to create somewhere really
lovely and superbly equipped for babies and toddlers, so all families need to
bring are some clothes and themselves.
By lavishing all their love and attention to detail on
Beauclerc, the owners have brought classic style and standards to the relaxed
environment of a traditional holiday home from home. The rustic and authentic
French character has been carefully preserved and then enhanced with special finishing
touches and the owners’ obvious desire to delight little ones as much as
Children will quickly discover that the house is full of
gorgeous toys and fun things to do, plus a super-cute timber play cabin in the
garden includes a dressing up box and plenty of kit for being arty and

barbecue and there’s a separate area for children to spread out their stuff and
play out of the sun.
The private pool at Beauclerc is safely gated and surrounded
by smart timber decking with sun loungers for parents to soak up the sun and
drink in the views, or play with baby in an inflatable paddling pool. Older
children can free range in the garden and grounds around Beauclerc, taking
turns on the classic tyre swing and playing with the various outdoor games.
Parents can keep an eye on the pool and garden from the
large, open plan dining kitchen which is cool and contemporary with a gas range
cooker, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle toaster and blender. A
welcome pack of local goodies is provided and the owners can also stock the
larder with a pre-arrival shop, fill the wine rack with fine local tipples,
arrange home cooked meals or even a chef for the night.
The two bedrooms at Beauclerc are beautifully furnished and
both have ensuite bathrooms plus a daybed downstairs can convert into a double
for another couple if needed. If parents fancy a little pampering the owners
can arrange massages, manicures and pedicures or fully checked babysitters can
be booked so mum and dad can have a much needed night out at one of the region’s
famous gourmet restaurants.
Beauclerc sleeps up to 5 people, plus a toddler and a baby,
with a wooden cot and toddler bed provided. The master bedroom has a king size
bed and an ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower, bath, basin and toilet. There

which is renowned for excellent dark red wines which give the fine Bordeaux
vineyards a run for their money. The town is encircled by the Lot river and
families can take a boat ride from the fortified Pont Velentre to see Old
Cahors from the water. Wednesday and Saturday mornings are market days and
Cahors also has large supermarkets for a big shop.
Pointy chateaux peak through the trees and grace the
hilltops throughout the Lot and little knights will be impressed by a trip to
Chateau de Castelnaud (45 mins) with room after room of swords, weapons and
armour from the battling years with the English. Rocamadour (45 mins) is an
incredible village that is literally clinging to the cliffs and nearby Gouffre
de Padirac is an amazing cave with a
lift into its depths for a 45 minute walk through the caverns followed by a
gondola ride to the end.
At Prehistoric Park, also close to Rocamadour, families can
have fun following a pushchair friendly walk through a forest with life size
dinosaurs around every corner or visit Monkey Park, to walk among free ranging
monkeys and offer the cheeky primates popcorn for a closer encounter!
