Sea views and balcony pools, über swish suites, smart restaurants and free kids clubs will have parents burning with a yearning to jump on a plane to this fabulous apartment hotel in the sunny south west corner of Tenerife. Costa Adeje is one of the sleekest, most stylish and peaceful resorts on this year-round island and Baobab suites is not only the epitome of stunning, contemporary design but also pure bliss for families. All that and it’s only 20 minutes transfer time from the airport.
What could be a more indulgent start to the day than à la carte breakfast hamper delivered to the door to graze on at leisure on a big, private balcony, gazing out to sea? Then how about a dip in a balcony pool or hot tub (room dependant) before venturing a few paces more to take full advantage of the other superb facilities.
For lazy days in the Canarian sunshine, there are two large pools with big day beds, parasols and even a sandy beach area with deckchairs. From 10am to 6pm, parents can let their little treasures enjoy the fun and games, at the Saplings kids clubs, with a big, bright and colourful play room full of toys for all ages, from play sets and a play kitchen to ride-ons, building kits and creative crafts. A whole programme of activities is available for 0 to 10 year olds but under 4’s must be supervised. And while the kids are having fun, grown-ups can be pampered and rejuvenated at the SensCare Institute with relaxing massages, de-stresssing body rituals and a full range of beauty treatments. For those who just can’t sit still, the Activate Sports Club is just across the road from the hotel and families can also stroll over here for a healthy lunch in the laid back Fuel Restobar, with its outdoor deck into a sandy ‘beach garden’.
From 1-bedroom Boutique Suites’ to 4-bedroom Luxury Suites, no two are quite the same but all of them are bristling with designer styling and an ultra-high spec finish. Combining style and substance, they’re all thoughtfully well equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, satellite TV and more. The suites ensure families have the flexibility to self-cater or dine out as they choose. When opting for the latter there’s a selection to choose from; those in search of coffee and cake can head to Bite deli which is great for a morning/mid-afternoon pick me up, while BB restaurant is popular for poolside snacks. We highly recommend parents take advantage of the babysitting service during their stay and head out for a romantic dinner for two at Sucas which offers a fine dining menu presented by celebrated chef Lucas Maes.
In all Baobab Suites offers a contemporary and well serviced resort, perfect for families in search of an off season/winter sun break with a more manageable flight time (4 hours from London).

Costa Adeje is an upmarket resort on Tenerife’s southwest coast. The yellow sand beach and crystal clear waters of the popular Blue Flag, Playa del Duque beach is easily accessed within 15 minutes’ walk although families may prefer to get the free shuttle (daily during peak season) or a taxi (inexpensive) back up the hill to the resort. An array of attractive bars and restaurants line the promenade along with handy essentials such as changing facilities, showers and ice cream shops. We recommend La Torre del Mirador which is a courtyard restaurant just off the beach who along with delicious seafood and paella offer a children’s menu.
For essentials there is a small mini market for basic rations approx. 5 minutes’ walk away but for a more comprehensive shop a larger supermarket is 15 minutes away (the return journey is uphill so families may prefer to drive/get a taxi back with their bags). The Bite delicatessen onsite is also a great resource for light snacks, cakes and coffee.
Further afield the Siam Park is a big hit with little ones. It’s a fantastic waterpark with a variety of rides including those non-swimmers can enjoy.
Monkey Park is another popular option for family days out (approx. 15 mins. Drive) and lets little ones see a variety of animals. If you arrive early they let you feed the monkeys.
Other beaches we recommend include Playa Fanabe which is located just around the headland had offers calm waters with fine volcanic sands, Balinese beds and sun umbrellas. There’s a variety of water sports available including pedalos, jet skis and banana boat rides.
The natural beauty of Tenerife is often overlooked. We recommend a visit to the Teide National Park which is great for walkers and the attractive east coast with its variety of traditional fishing villages, Anaga Mountains and the beautiful natural beach at El Medano.
For those looking to experience more specialist activities the resort centre can help. Thrill seekers can try their hand at paragliding, their boat rental options, photography trips, wine tasting and more available to suit all taste.
Getting there: The resort is 20 minutes’ drive from Tenerife South airport which is approx. 4 hours flight time from London.
Nearest GP/Medical centre: Yukka Park Medical centre is 5 minutes’ drive away and there’s an A&E 15 minutes’ drive away/
