Chateau Les Merles is the kind of glamorous boutique hotel escape most BFB users would have killed to visit pre-offspring with its wonderful vineyard/golf course setting just 10mins from Bergerac and its airport, sophisticated monochrome interiors and highly rated restaurant and bistro. All is not lost! Thanks to its elegant little 2-bedroom apartment with terrace overlooking the lawns and pool, which provides ideal accommodation for a couple and baby or new toddler. Set all on one level, and with patio doors opening to a safe grassy area, it allows little ones stress-free roaming, whilst parents will appreciate its chic design, luxurious fixtures and fittings, handy kitchenette and the ability to enjoy the glamorous onsite restaurant and bistro a stone's throw from the apartment's lockable door. Guests who remember their baby monitor (basic baby gear provided but not listener see below) and grab a terrace dining table, may actually be closer to junior than when dining downstairs in their own homes.
Whilst BFB highly recommends Chateau Les Merles as an indulgent holiday for parents of babies/new toddlers, and the staff are certainly very welcoming to mini guests, parents with older toddlers or several children may find that there is little to entertain them, apart from the lovely pool. The lack of holiday buddies may be an issue.

Although peacefully located in acres of its own vineyard, golf course and vegetable plots, Chateau Les Merles is extremely convienent for Begerac being just 10mins from the city and its airport. It is also a short drive from St Emilion and its famous Chateau vineyards and pretty Medieval town.
There's also an Bergerac Aqua park, which with its wide range of slides and chutes provides buckets of fun, and the Prehisto Parc in Les Eyzies - an adventure straight out of the Flintstones and is perfect for budding dinosaur lovers.
Getting There: Bergerac Airport is 10-15mins drive. Bordeaux is also close by. BFB finds www.skyscanner.net useful for sourcing low cost flights from London and UK regional airports.
