Crammed full of character and charm, Quinta da Alfarrobeira is a haven for young families seeking to rediscover nature whilst also enjoying a wonderfully relaxing break away from modern life. Nestled amongst ancient olive, fig and almond trees, the Quinta was originally founded in the 18th century. It enjoys magnificent rural views and a lovely sense of space and tranquilly, best enjoyed from one of the many private terraces (note: these feature some unguarded stone steps). Despite being peaceful and rural, it is also very convenient. A lovely sandy beach is just down the road, as is the traditional village of Odiáxere. The bustling town of Lagos, famous for its ceramics, is just five kilometres away.

Guests have a choice of two pretty guesthouses comfortably furnished in a personal and ageless style. Whichever option is chosen, most people seem to while away lazy days by the gorgeous outdoor pool (un-fenced), reading on the terraces or exploring the grounds with their curious offspring, who are enchanted by the opportunity to make friends with chickens, horses, cats and dogs, pick their own fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs (when available) from the organic gardens or find some eggs.
Accommodation Overview:
'A Granja' has two private terraces, a double bedroom, lounge with fireplace, azulejo tiled bathroom and kitchenette (no dishwasher, but use of a washing machine) with antique stone sink. It can sleep four (using lounge sofabed). It may be rented weekly with prices as follows:
Inge and Theo are keen to see their guests supporting the local community and are always happy to point them in the right direction for everything from fresh baked bread to crafts. They also provide a folder full of tips and advice on the local area with special recommendations for families. The Quinta is approximately 75kms from the airport at Faro. Car hire is recommended but not essential as there is a beach in walking distance (approx 1km).
