Stripes and the seaside go hand-in-hand, which is why I felt so cheery when the French clothes company Bibaloo emailed me some snaps of their Spring collection.
New this season is one of my favourite brands Weekend à la Mer – it’s achingly French and reminds me of long sunny days pottering around in Brittany. Breton stripes are as historical as practical – they were uniform for the French Navy and favoured by sailors in Northern France mainly because the block pattern of stripes was easy to spot amidst the blurred colours of the waves.
Not that we are anywhere near summer judging by the weather this week, but as our thoughts move towards warmer days and holidays, you can get in the mood with some stripy purchases at Bibaloo.

Take a first look at the new Summer collection from Stella McCartney Kids. Expect bright colours, prints and the versatility that you would expect from the designer. Officially, their full Spring/Summer collection doesn’t launch until next week 2 March, but here at BFB we are loving the sneak peek and are busy compiling our shopping wish lists.
I met Terese Oman, the Swedish designer and author of My Best Book About Me, at the Bubble fair last month. She talked me through her stunning baby record book and it’s so fun and lovely that I was almost inspired to having another baby! There’s nothing like this out there on the market – a well-designed, modern and witty baby keepsake book that you can record the milestones of your child’s first five years. The book is colourful, packed with illustrations and the hallmarks of great Scandinavian design. Perfect for a gift for a new mother.

Fans of Peppa Pig should make their way to Selfridges in London this Saturday (19 February 2011) for a special book signing event. The creatives behind the much loved TV cartoon, co-creator Neville Astley and producer Phil Davies will be in store to sign limited edition Peppa Pig prints, which will be available exclusively at Selfridges.
There will be opportunities for kids to be photographed with their favourite TV character too. Artwork starts at £10 and entitles you to have your photo taken with the UK’s cutest pig.
