This magnificent 18th century stone house was once home to the 'master of the village', boasting beautiful views that, with the exception of the glistening swimming pool (heated), have hardly changed since. Its current owners, Tim, Razia and their young family, have renovated the house to a very high standard, giving it a lovely blend of casual elegance and fantastic facilities for pre-school families. Most importantly, and probably thanks to their own experiences, they've given it just the right mix of toys, play gear and grown-up touches that allows parents freedom to relax and feel indulged. Along with the long list of baby/toddler equipment and toys, a pre-arrival shopping service for items like nappies, milk and wipes, makes packing light work, whilst pre-bookable babysitting, housekeeping and delicious freshly made meal delivery or private chef services all combine to makes a stress-free, relaxing break virtually guaranteed.
Inside, the elegant building has been tastefully restored and comfortably furnished with a mixture of antiques and local rustic pieces. Many original features have been retained - stone arches and walls, wooden floors and beams. On the ground floor is a living room with a beautiful arched window, a sitting room with a Gascon fireplace, a very well-equipped kitchen/dining room (with many cook books), a laundry room and a separate WC. A large selection of CDs is provided. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with an additional single bed with en suite bathroom including a separate shower unit and WC.
The first floor has a double bedroom with an en suite bathroom with a WC and a dressing room, a twin bedroom (beds can be put together to make a double), a twin bedroom with two large single "lits bateaux", and a bathroom with a WC. The high quality linens, bath and pool towels from The White Company that are supplied typify Razia and Tim's commitment to attention to detail in ensuring guests get the most from their stay. The fantastic feedback from past guests is well deserved and a good indication of just how difficult it is to tear yourself away at the end of a stay!

Artagnan is set on the outskirts of a small village, within a few minutes drive of the shops, restaurants and supermarkets of Trie-Sur-Baise or Mielan. An impressive new water park is just 15 mins away in Mirande, which also has a supermarket, restaurants and a popular country music club. Beautiful medieval Tillac is just over the hill and Marciac is 30mins (25kms) away. A large lake for swimming and fishing is also less than 5 mins drive away. The picturesque cathedral town of Auch is half an hour away and is home to a good selection of boutiques and restaurants. There are three 18 hole golf courses, horse/pony riding nearby which is highly recommended and white water rafting at the foot of the Pyrenees. The Coleman family keep a large folder of suggestions and advice on places to visit and things to do locally, in the house, and are also on hand to assist with any special arrangements including spa and golf bookings. One particularly popular activity is adults and children's pottery making with an English-speaking lady about 10mins away.
Getting There: Closest airports to Artagnan are Lourdes (50 minutes), Pau (75minutes ) and Toulouse (80minutes). New routes for summer 2011: CITY JET from London city and Dublin to Pau, RYANAIR from Stansted to Lourdes

We went to Artagnan last year, which was simply the best self catering property we have found in France with Razia and Tim being absolutely fantastic hosts. Razia even organised a massage for this frazzled mum! - nothing was too much trouble, for example,- tractor rides on the sit on lawn mower - no problem! Not to mention the house, which was absolutely beautiful and brilliantly equipped. Another great recommendation - thanks!

We had a wonderful week here. The Coleman's have created a fantastic villa with all the right touches to make for a luxury adult holiday - from huge fluffy towels, to candles, a coffee machine, a fridge full of cheese and a brilliant DVD collection. They've also thought of absolutely everything you could want for a baby or kids - from a baby monitor, to pool toys and a booster seat to take out to restaurants. Everything is in fantastic condition. The house is great in summer (with the pool) and would be equally lovely in winter (with the open fire). You won't want to leave the place - but if you fancy a day out the area is great for exploring. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Every little thing we thought of was already organised for our enjoyment. The kids loved the pool and all the toys, we loved the ice cream maker and cooking in the brilliantly equipped kitchen. Just returned from a glorious week at Artagnan with our new babies, we can honestly say the place exceeded our dreams. With the brand new designer kitchen equipment and herb garden we indulged our passion for cooking. There was so much to keep the babies and ourselves occupied. The final touches such as White Company linen and towels only showed just how much Tim and Razia care about making this a special place to visit. Many thanks to them and their gorgeous children for making our stay so memorable.

Our holiday was the best we have had as a family thanks to the generosity, professionalism and thoughtfulness of Tim, Razia and their children. We can not think of any way in which our holiday could have been improved and believe that the Colemans give many five-star hotels a run for their money in terms of providing a personal, professional, friendly yet discreet service. We were all very sad to leave and will definitely be returning.

The house was equipped with everything you can possibly think of to entertain our children. The heated pool was especially well used. We look forward to visiting Artagnan again! Tim, Razia and their children were very welcoming and made sure that we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The house and gardens are gorgeous and provided everthing to keep our 2 amused, busy and happy for the stay. We particulary loved the pool with its range of floats and toys, badminton, swingball, the chickens, the range of toys, (in particular the petshop toy, prams, dolls and action man!) the big collection of books, the markets in nearby towns, great food in the restaurants to top it all, we had a week of glorious sunshine...and after a summer of rain at home it made a welcome change. This is a great place for a family holiday!

What a fantastic holiday! The best and from far most relaxing one since the birth of our son. The house and suroundings are very well equiped and very safe. It is also extreemly clean, convenient and of very good quality (I already miss the White Company towels). Our son was thrilled by all the toys around and loved playing with Georges, Eva and Louis. The heated swimming pool is also fantastic and very much appreciated having a 10 month old daughter. Razia, Tim, Louis, Eva and Georges made us feel like friends of the family. They spared no efforts to make our stay enjoyable (the welcome pack alone is something to remember). Razia kindly babysat our children twice while we were there and we felt extreemly confident about it as she definitely has a special sense with children. We cannot recommend the place highly enough. Thank you again to the Coleman's family for its kindness and generosity. We hope to be able to visit you again soon.

We have just returned from Artagnan having had what can only be described as the perfect family holiday.
The setting is idyllic. The standard of the property is superb and enhanced by Tim & Razia's eye for quality and detail, which is applied to everything in the house, including the toys (we suspect their children have a hand with these!). We have 3 children and finding the right setting can be a challenge. Artagnan exceeds that challenge by far. The house is full of everything you would ever need to cater for young children - from sterilisers, highchairs, toys and bikes. Everything. However, what set this trip apart was the hospitality of the Coleman family. Prior to our arrival, they were a source of great advice and whilst we were there they went to great lengths to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Arrival shopping, babysitting, culinary advice all included! And their 3 wondrful children were equally as welcoming and helpful.
