West Wales is a great location for family holidays, with its mixture of history castles and beautiful coastline. The main city, Swansea, has plenty to offer for the children including the LC indoor waterpark, which is loads of fun, along with Plantasia’s exciting tropical greenhouse. The city offers several excellent child friendly hotels and the whole family will have fun in the Swansea Market, the largest covered market of its kind in Wales, with tasty offerings including cockles and muscles and meat and fish stalls.
For a real seaside experience, head to the Gower Peninsula, and area so lovely it was the first in the U.K. to be designated an Area of Outstanding Beauty. Besides the endless sandy beaches, the family will enjoy exploring the caves in the area. Spoil mum by heading down to Mumbles for lunch. This former fishing village now offers some excellent restaurants and boutiques. Right down at the tip of the peninsula, the children will enjoy Rhossili, which offers a fascinating shipwreck along with a walk to the promontory of Worm’s Head during low tide.
Llanelli is a fun location offering the Millennium Coastal Park. The family can hire bikes and enjoy the 2-mile cycle path, visiting the Pembrey Country Park at one end and the National Wetland Centre at the other. There is also horse riding and an adventure playground on offer as well as the beautiful 8-mile Cefn Sidan beach.
In conclusion, West Wales is a great family destination offering plenty to do and also the best in baby friendly accommodation.
